The iPod Classic did not come with a power adapter originally. Only the headphones and the 30 pin to USB cable.
It could be charged by connecting to a computer via USB, or a 5 watt iPhone charger of the time.
Later when iPads where released, it could use the 10watt charger that came with them.
The current 12 watt charger replaced the 10 watt charger in newer iPads, and can still be used to charge older devices.

Apple chargers are compatible with most Apple devices, even old ones that pre-date them.
I use my 12 watt and 10 watt chargers with a variety of devices including my 2005 iPod Classic, with no issues.
The A1102 and A1205 appear to the the larger brick type chargers used with iPads later, though they are labeled as being specifically for iPod.
The A1265 is the smaller cube type charger that came with iPhones for many years.
My A1401 came with my 2015 12.9" iPad Pro.
Regardless, they should work to charge the iPod just fine.
Yes, it will.
Just buy a regular 12 watt adapter from Apple, I can guarantee it will work with the iPod with no issue whatsoever.
Not really. Using a the USB port in a computer has always been a standard method of charging devices, and remains so to this day.
While charging through a wall adapter is also perfectly normal, and yes there were adapters sold separately at the time, Apple simply chose not to include one with the iPods back in the day.
Not even the iPod Touches at the time included a charger.
And apple still suggests plugging in to a computer to charge: If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support
Plug your charging cable into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on a computer that's on and not in sleep mode. Don’t use the USB ports on your keyboard.
Strange. Try a different wall socket and cable.
From the ones I own:
5 watt: A1265
10 watt: A1357
12: watt: A1401
The 5 and 12 watt versions can be found in Apple's online store:
Yes, the wall connector heads also know as duck heads you slide onto the main power adapter:
I just saw this now

My a1205 has randomly stopped working, not sure why though and what to do?
The a1401 has more power than all the others so wasn't sure?
Why would it be chargers for the iPads if they say iPod on them?
Just the shape and size is similar to the iPad chargers. Probably those models were made before iPads were actually a thing (2010), So were put out for the only other non-iPhone device there was in 2009 and earlier.
It's definitely not the cable as the cable works with my other adapters. Nothing wrong with the socket as all plugs in it work absolutely fine, there's definitely something wrong with this adapter. Not sure what to do about it as very old out of warranty and apple won't even look at it. They'll say it's vintage and obsolete.
I don't think buying a new one is an option unless someone has old stock or unused selling on ebay.
This is a very old model adapter so would highly doubt it unless I buy used on ebay which isn't good.

Why didn't the ipod classic come with a wall charger adapter ?
Well, actually it did originally, but it was a firewire charger, and the sync connection was firewire, not USB. An update allowed USB syncing, but still required Firewire charging, and you could buy a “Y” cable with a firewire plug and a USB plug.
Well, I currently have THREE iPod classics, that you will have to pry from my cold, dead hands 😏
I use at least one of them every day, in my bedside iPod dock to go to sleep to. I rotate them so they don’t get lonely. My original one from 2001 died, but the other 3 are still working.
What I have for charging is an Anker 4 port USB charger that can supply up to 40 amps to any combination of up to 4 connected devices.
