Will the 12w USB power adapter charge my iPod Classic?
Will the 12w USB power adapter MD836B/B Model number A1401 charge my ipod classic 160gb (late 2009) ? If not then which model is the correct and compatible one to use ?

The iPod Classic did not come with a power adapter originally. Only the headphones and the 30 pin to USB cable.
It could be charged by connecting to a computer via USB, or a 5 watt iPhone charger of the time.
Later when iPads where released, it could use the 10watt charger that came with them.
The current 12 watt charger replaced the 10 watt charger in newer iPads, and can still be used to charge older devices.
Hi Lawrence & Phil
Thanks for your comments and posts.
I also have a bose ipod speaker which I enjoy and use.
Not sure why you need 3 ipod classics though.
Surely it's just a bigger headache for you to constantly rotate.
Apple nowadays charge separately for the adapter.
Always trying to pull more money put of us ☹
Hi Phil0124
Thank you for the fast response.
I'm getting mixed information on this so don't know what to believe and what not?
That's fantastic to hear but which adapter is the original one for my ipod classic?
Do you know model number?
Oh that's so interesting, I appreciate all your information.
Do you know the model numbers of those chargers ?
I have the a1102 and a1205 and getting a1401.
They seem different to yours, dunno why.
Actually I also have the a1265 but it's a USA plug.
My a1205 has randomly stopped working as in it doesn't charge, not sure why though and what to do?
Other than recycling and buying a new one, not much more to do then.
I bought it but just not from apple.
o.k.
Why didn't the ipod classic come with a wall charger adapter ?
That I do not know. Apple chose not to include one at the time. I guess they assumed you would charge it with a computer's USB port instead for the most part.
But that's not usual as it's normal to charge an iPod via the wall plug not USB with computer.
There must have been a USB adapter at the time which was sold separately.
I understand what you're saying but it's interesting to note.
Do you know if apple made a case/cover for the ipod classic?
Don't know for sure, though I do not believe they did.
And a quick google search reveals nothing.
How come the original apple box for the Model A1102 shows a 2 pin US plug if it's UK ?
