ITunes

I have successfully restored my iPad (iOS 14.3) from iTunes on my Windows 10 a few days ago without any of the apps and data. I restored my apps and data manually from my Windows 10 computer using another app. Then yesterday, I wanted to load a music from my Windows 10 PC using the iTunes that I have on my PC which I successfully used to restore my iPad.

Lo and behold, I got the prompt on my iTunes on my PC that states “iTunes cannot read the content of the iPad (my iPad). Go to the Summary tab in iPad preferences and click Restore to restore this iPad to factory settings”. I click Ok on that message prompt and it gives the button choices of Eject the iPad or Restore to factory settings. Obviously I did not click either button. I just clicked Done without clicking either eject or restore.

I really am far from the biggest fan of iTune. I avoid iTiune as much as I can. Besides I already found an alternative solution for loading my music to my iPad from my PC without using iTunes. But what is the solution to the above iTunes error prompt without restoring my iPad to factory settings?

Thank you in advance.

Here is the solution to the above issue.

  1. Click ok to the prompt. Do not restore or eject the iPad.
  2. Disconnect the iPad from the computer.
  3. Safely eject any external hard drives and shut down the computer.
  4. Switch on the computer again and a prompt may appear that states “Your previous iTunes installation must be removed before continuing. Would you like to remove it now? Disconnect the iPad from the computer, then click Yes.
  5. When iTunes re-opens it now recognizes the iPad.
  6. You can now physically connect the iPad to the computer.
