I just unpacked my new iPhone 12 pro and I did a force restart. Unlike my iPhone X, The apple symbol did a quick bright flash before the normal restart occurred. To confirm, I tried it again- to get the same result.
Is this an issue with the phone or software? Or is this the new normal for the iPhone 12 pro?
I went to an Apple store and they replaced it under warranty.
It is not normal; there's another thread in the iPhone hardware community that describes the same issue. There doesn't seem to be a good resolution yet unfortunately.

If enough of us who are experiencing the same issue pool together to identify "I have this question too", I wonder if it will help draw attention from someone at Apple? I have done that for all links listed above. We have also logged cases with Apple support.
Better yet is to group all separate ones under one main thread but don't know of an easy way to do that (or prevent future new ones from popping up).
I did that too, twice. All three phones ended up exhibiting the same behavior, and sometimes worse, whereby they wouldn't turn on without being connected to power (either cable or wireless). Hoping that Apple will start noticing and that the underlying issue can be resolved soon.
Agree it’s not normal. Hopefully as more and more of us start to report this, it will get Apple’s attention and come back with a response and resolution.
