Apple logo flash at startup

New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

You are right, it is a purely cosmetic issue. Anyway, it is an issue.

And at the moment it does not prevent the phone from booting and it does not have any negative effect on operations, but we do not know the cause of the flashing logo and if other related problems (related to the cause) will occur in the future, that is why we are concerned about that issue.

Honestly I wouldn’t care.

In the rare cases I reboot my phone, I don’t even watch it, I only care that it comes back up. My phone could be flashing Morse code messages to aliens on reboot and I would never know. 🤣

Anyone here can do anything they want about it, that’s your call - but as someone who has been here on my own time answering user questions for almost twenty years (not an Apple employee), I would recommend simply not worrying about it.

Thankgod am not alone !!!

I brought my iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB (Gold) last week and then yesterday I turned it off since i wanted to save some battery. When I turned it on I saw the apple logo flashing. I got panicked suddenly. So far as I did my research I do not exactly know the reason for this but it possibly can be fixed through an update. Thing is here in SriLanka it’s hard to get an exchange as well since there is no apple store but only resellers. I already informed the reseller.

Come on, now! It is a harmless bug in the boot process. It doesn’t affect use of the phone in any way. Remember that the iPhone is a COMPUTER even though it is called an “iPhone”. It’s really just a very power pocket sized computer that, by the way, can also make phone calls. As the phone starts various processes are started sequentially, and the display goes on and off as this occurs. The fix, when it comes in a future release, will be to turn the display off during the boot process. However, you will know in your heart that even though you don’t see it, the Apple logo is going on and off in the dark, so to speak, as the phone starts up.

3rd IPhone 12 with same problem. Do not know what to do. Spoke to Apple, no knowledge of it. My iPhone 12 works fine but my wife’s has the same problem. This is her 3rd. We even switched from the color white to green, thinking the white had a bad batch of chips. I have a blue which is fine. All the phones had to be updated to IOS 14.4

This is Apple we are talking about, it would be EXTREMELY IRRESPONSIBLE of them not to read these discussions which are being posted ON THEIR SITE!

Bottomline, a problem is a problem, and affects the customer, for less sensitive people or the wealthy this is not so much, for more sensitive and moderately paid people it is, regardless, apple is apple, and what distinguishes it from others is QUALITY and RELIABILITY.

If u disregard this point we might as well buy a samsung at a fraction of the price !

Please check if your phone other storage show mysterious overused exceeding 10gB? Apple says they are not connected but I m skeptical. I understand everytime the phone is shut down, the most of the cache in the other storage were cleared but weren’t due to the flash issues.

on the outside , it appears the phone software didn’t really know the phone were shut down , hence the cache weren’t cleared off and kept accumulate to 180gb in my case rendering my iphone12 pro Max unusable .

i had my phone replace but told the staff I still wasn’t confident.

perhaps you can prove my point?

Like hear from you about your other storage space

good luck

First, apple techs are also users, so why can’t they be here? Wouldn’t apple care about problems?

Second, seriously? I meant it metaphorically, of course I am not going to get a samsung!! I my entire ecosystem is apple! which is why I am more sensitive to bugs on an iphone.

Thirdly, i just dont get it dude, why are u ok with this? yea i know the phone works perfectly otherwise... so what? should we celebrate here? it is SUPPOSED TO! maybe u dont feel the same and that’s fine you are entitled to your opinion, but you should respect that others feel differwntly, and have every right to be annoyed at glitches, especially when there is no official response as to why, surely u understand that?

anyway, i can confirm that this is the ONLY problem i have experienced, but that doesn’t mean it is not a concern.

Good Morning from Athens-Greece. It is so difficult to have a formal answer to the question from the company with the logo ( Apple). Yes the iphone is a small Computer, and for this after seeing that in the community users are wondering about the apple flash, an official answer should be given by the apple company. It is already too late and the public that buys products from it must be respected. We all, want a formal response here and now and quickly. Tanks of lot.

Thanks ..looks like the system Is still in calculation process. You have to wait for it to complete the calculation. However, I think yours may be ok unless you have minimum apps installed. :) Like I said, Idk if the two issues I experienced are co-related.

at 1 stage I actually offload all 3rd party apps and the others storage still flactuate between 35gb -150gb .

hope you can resolve this issue soon.

Well they should hear user’s view , be it good or bad , here. Don’t they look at our shared experience here ? Otherwise , why create a forum foe users if not to see our shared experience?

The reason we take time off and share experience n feed back here is because we are an amateur and an apple user.

Or do they only hear from us in Samsung n Huawei forum? Lol

Feb 16, 2021 2:02 AM in response to Peterisil

My Samsung n Huawei user friends asked me about my IPhone 12 Pro Max experience . Idk whether to tell the truth or to lie. Haha

but to give credit where it’s due, I know Apple flagship store also face hardship in giving answers to this situation. I brought mine twice to the store. They did mentioned the engineers knew about this n are working on it and that it could be hardware issue and if that’s the case , a replacement maybe down the line .

again, different staff will advise slightly differently answer.
