New iMac runs slowly after a day or so

I bought a new iMac a couple of months ago. When it starts, everything is fine, but after using it for a day or so, it starts to go really slow, taking ages to save or open simple files and applications.

A restart fixes it, but it happens again after a day or so.

I've tried disk repair, etc., but can't fathom what's wrong, or what's causing it.

Any advice?

There is a built-in utility called Activity Monitor. ~ Can be accessed

in TOC view or through different page URLs, to see separate topics.

This 'Table of Contents' can help learn all it does and how to use it.

• Activity Monitor User Guide - (Table of Contents) - Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/guide/activity-monitor/toc

There may be third-party additions to the Mac's system; may be not

compatible or have conflicts with other aspects. ~ Could be you've

installed 3rd-party 'anti-virus' to clog up modern self-fixing macOS?

Good luck & happy computing!
