iMessage NOT syncing across iPhone and MacBook Air
For some reason my iMessage just started not syncing to my MacBook Air. I can 'send' iMessages but not receive on my MacBook Air.
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

I think I may have solved it.
iPhone>Setting>Messages>Switch OFF iMessage>Switch back on>Select Send & Receive Addresses
Mac>Message Preferrences>iMessage Tab> Sign Out/Sign In>Select where you can be reached at
After this I am able to initiate new Texts on iPhone and it syncs with Mac. Older messages have not synced. Crossing my fingers this continues to work.
Yes, it will require re logging into wifi, renaming phone, Bluetooth devices, and any personalization switch of maiden settings will need to be reconfigured.
I didn’t have to reset any of mine. The old texts won’t come over so I checked ones I might need before following the directions of dpaik. There were other answers but I used his.
That worked for me. Thanks!
On the Mac, going to the Messages app, then Preferences -> iMessage tab, signing out and signing back in again worked for me. I have seen this a few times, good to know what really fixes it.
This seemed to work for me also. First time I've found something useful here. Probably my lack of persistence. thank you.
Same issue on MacBook Pro. Appreciate the input, but so far nothing works. So maddening.
Yes, same exact here - telling me to click setting choices I do not have!
It worked for me. Thank you!
Well that only worked for a few minutes. Now it has stopped working again. This is a mess.
This worked for me. I was signed in with my apple address in my phone generally. But within messages, I had not clicked "Use Apple ID".
I see no Text Message Forward on my iPhone 12Pro, Have never been able to sync Mac to iPhone messages. Sync is not even in Search.
Thank you, dpaik. Your suggestion was the one that worked for me.
Thank you! I will give that a try!
Great observation!! This worked. Once I signed in I was able to see text message forwarding and was able to add my Mac.
Thanks!
