Administartor priveliges for Zoom

While setting Zoom to provide a virtual background I encountered an error message saying I need to install Zoom's "Smart Virtual Background package" with Admin privileges.

I checked the Zoom app info panel's Sharing & Permissions section and it shows "system" (with a one-head icon), "wheel" and "everyone." System is shown with a "Read & Write" Privilege. I've also checked Users & Groups and confirmed I am still listed as Admin.

How can I obtain "system" to "administrator" so I can set its Privilege?

If this isn't the way to fix my failure to install the Zoom package, what will?

Hi Old Toad,

Nope.

FYI, the problem does not occur on a separate, new User Account.

Thanks for asking!

That tells us there's something in your account that is the culprit. Therefore download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Also click and read the About info to further permit full disk access.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to include the report in your reply.

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine what might be causing the problem.

When I attempt to download the specific Zoom "package" I need, I'm asked for the Admin password. When I provide it, the download "fails."

I have never seen a download request require an Admin password. Where are you downloading it from? Is this something within the Zoom app? What is the exact error message when it "fails?"

The Information Panel for the Zoom app shows the Sharing & Permissions "Names" as: System, Wheel, and Everyone. I've changed all their Privileges to "Read & Write," with no success, so I wonder if the problem is that there is no "Admin" associated with the Zoom app.

How can I change "System" to "Admin?"

You can't. There is no point in trying as that is not the problem.
