My USB mouse disconnects on sleep

I saw a thread about this from November, 2020, but it wouldn't let me reply. When my computer goes to sleep my mouse is disconnected when the computer wakes up and I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working. I contacted the mouse manufacturer and passed along my setup and they replied, "this is a compatibility problem of the M1 processor. Follow-up to see if the Mac update will solve this bug, it is recommended to contact Apple to submit this problem point, thank you." Do I go through customer support to bring this up with Apple or is there some other suggestion board/forum that Apple checks?

I have:

Mac mini (M1, 2020)

macOS Big Sur V. 11.1

Zelotes C-18 USB wired mouse

Thanks for any help/suggestion.
