Unable to install macOS Big Sur 11.2-Update 11.2 on mac mini 2020

After downloading the update on the brand new mac mini 2020

a dialog pops up requireing me to enter my password in order to continue the update.

"Softwareupdate tries to authenticate the user",

but my password is not accepted - this is quite unpleasent, since I have admin rights.

Any ideas, how to solve this bad issue?

Mac mini, macOS 11.0

Suggest shutdown and disconnect all external drives. Restart and immediately hold Shift key. Safe Mode will do a Repair Disk, Clear Cache files and only load required Apple Software - so a slow booth is expected and normal. If it goes well. this will allow the update to do its thing successfully.

I have reached the safe mode of the mac mini - its an M1 model - by keeping the start button pressed until booted,

and I have selected "Options" to get to the "Festplattendienstprogramm" (hard disk tool)

and selected "Erste Hilfe" on

  • Macintosh HD

which should recognize and repair errors for the selected volume.

Repair action ends with status code 0

"The selected volume appears to be ok"

but for com.apple.os.update-MSUPrepareUpdate

I can see a warning:

snapshot fsroot/file key rollling tree corruptions are not repaired,

they'll go away once the snapshot is deleted.

So how can I delete this snapshot?

Thanks in advance.

According to @P.Phillips suggestion,

I rebootet my Mac mini M1 2020 (Big Sur 11.1) in safe mode in order to update to Big Sur 11.2,

but can not proceed, as the last step before updating shows a popup dialog telling

Softwareupdate versucht, den Benutzer zu authentifizieren. Gib dein Passwort ein

(softwareupdate tries to authentify the user - passwort requested)

But it still does not accept my password.

Can someone please help me?
