Loading and watching home-made videos on iPad

In the past I could upload a few family videos in .mov format from my Mac, and play them in iTunes, just as I did downloaded TV shows and commercial movies. Now, it seems I can only load my home movies to Photos via AirDrop, and watching them in Photos is not good.

What am I doing wrong with this latest iOS? How should I be adding home movies to my iPad, and what app should I use to view them?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14
