PowerBeats Pro shutting down with battery
When using my Powerbeats Pro, the left earpiece shuts down randomly, even if it shows more than 80% battery on my iPhone. This only happens with the left one, the right one works normally.
Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!

How is this marked as solved? This isn't solved. I don't see any response that tells me how to fix my Powerbeats other than buying a new set or earbud and they aren't old enough for that to be a reasonable suggestion. This is disappointing and it really makes me question why I went with the apple product/s in the first place.
Thanks for all the updates - I've tried most of what you said and the issue always seems to end up persisting. I've found, my right ear bud either dies at 80% or if the battery somehow gets below 80% (if I've left them out of the case for a while) then they usually die right at 55%. The left earbud seems to be behaving more normally, but still dying quicker than I remember. My ear buds are a little under 2 years old at this point and outside of the warranty so I've been getting resistance from anyone at Apple, which is frustrating because this is clearly not a normal issue. If it was a true issue of an old product I would understand, but this seems to be a broader issue.
Same issues. Right one first started disconnecting with the low battery warning sound at 55%. All devices on latest IOS. Reset and paired several times. No use. Drained both earpieces and the case to 0% and charged all devices back to 100%. Surprise surprise, now right one disconnects at 85%!! I was getting about 20-30 mins before from the right one. Now disconnects in a few minutes.
I am in India and the device is out of warranty. The service charge for these is so high that the service center dont bother coming in, just buy new ones. Bizarre. Other than complaining about it in this forum I don't have anywhere else to go. :(
Unfortunately there was no diagnostic provided so they couldn’t tell me the underlying cause. In store they said they’ve now see a few similar cases. In the UK they replaced them under consumer law. Best of luck to everyone hope you get a satisfactory resolution of some sort
My right earbud just started doing this as well. It’s disappointing since they had been working fine without issues until this randomly stated happening. Did anyone end up finding a solution? I’ve tried resetting multiple times and it hasn’t fixed it.
There's no solution for this. The buds became unusable, you cannot listen to music because, sometimes, it only takes 3 minutes for the left bud to shut down, sometimes it takes half an hour, sometimes 30 seconds.
It is a firmware issue. It just happened to me, after 5 minutes of play, the left one went off, 0% battery, and when I placed it in the case, it immediately went up to 55%. It's charging now, and the right one works perfectly, 8 hours of battery on that one.
Here is what we can do : contact Apple by chat then tell the issue. After having discussed, the advisor will certainly say you need to replace them, at this moment ask to talk to a senior advisor then this senior advisor will be able to escalate the issue to the engineers. If a lot of us do this, they would see it’s a firmware issue…
I did report it many times, and every time they asked me to bring the buds to an Apple Store. Since there's no Apple Store here, and Apple's only solution is to sell you a new bud, we're doomed.
Here's a new one: I have a friend who actually paid for the extra bud, and guess what? It's now happening to the new one too.
Oh really ? What happened to me is that I contacted them, they I asked to talk to a senior advisor and this senior advisor told me he was able to escalate the issue to the engineer if I call but I wasn’t able to call by phone at that time…
Same problem with mine but the problem affects the right earbud. It would turn off once the battery reaches 55%. Tried everything but the problem still persists. Contacted Apple and was informed that since it was out of warranty, the only viable option is to have it replaced for a fee which the service center quoted me $145 USD for replacing 1 earbud. It's a shame though because I barely used the earbuds as I rotate with other wireless earphones and it's disappointing as the item became defective but not from wear and tear. Apple did inform me though that if enough customers filed a complaint regarding this, they would investigate and issue a recall for the affected earbuds, if need be.
Hopefully, the issue is addressed soon. In the meantime, I am not going to buy another Powerbeats pro for the time being until the issue has been fixed.
I’ve been having the same issue for a while but didn’t realize how widespread it was until coming across this page. Have people been raising the issue to a higher level so that the engineers know the firmware needs to be updated? Also, what’s the best way to file a complaint about this? Want to make sure they are actually listening since The Apple support representatives here obviously aren’t reporting this to their superiors. I don’t mean to be rude about it, but it’s really frustrating when so many replies prove it’s a widespread issue that can’t be fixed through the usual troubleshooting methods.
pitt ohio team offers pitt ohio tracking portal for their customers to track their shipment via internet. This is a good step by pitt ohio team to facilitate their customer by giving real time updates about shipment
You can contact Apple via a Call. They can escalate your call to a senior support specialist to handle your case. At this point, there is still no solution to the problem other than replacing the earbuds entirely which is not an option for those who are Out of Warranty. I wish Apple would atleast acknowledge the problem.
I've been having the same issue with the left earpiece for a few months. I bought my earbuds in June 2019.
Has anyone found out if it is a battery, hardware or firmware issue?
Replacing the battery costs $75 (€97) for out of warranty earbuds according to Apple website.
I got the same problem with my Powerbeats, one (right earbud) just cutting out randomly during my workout.
I just want to check and sort out if this has something to do with it.. (probably not)

– You’ve got too many apps going on
Too many apps running in your background is a common and easy fix. When Bluetooth is trying to pair with them, it causes interference with the connection. Plus, some devices are rather limited in the number of apps that it can run at the same time.
Try cutting out apps like gps bluetooth location based apps like Strava or any apps that would interfere with the bluetooth connection to the headset?
Can anybody share their experience with cutting out any apps they are using in the background and JUST listen to music and check if that has something to do with one earbud shutting off? (becoming idle)
No idea if this works or even has anything to do with the problem!
