PowerBeats Pro shutting down with battery

When using my Powerbeats Pro, the left earpiece shuts down randomly, even if it shows more than 80% battery on my iPhone. This only happens with the left one, the right one works normally.

How is this marked as solved? This isn't solved. I don't see any response that tells me how to fix my Powerbeats other than buying a new set or earbud and they aren't old enough for that to be a reasonable suggestion. This is disappointing and it really makes me question why I went with the apple product/s in the first place.

This has nothing to do with the issue. I never keep apps open in the app switcher and still run into battery drain in the left headphone. I generally just listen to podcasts in Overcast, have a continuous glucose meter and only get about 1.5 hours out of the left side now. Yesterday I put it in the charging case and it was back to 95% in about a minute or so. I’ve also noticed that it dies in less than 30 minutes if you’re in a phone call. my phone usage habits haven’t changed, yet the performance of the one headphone has. Plus, the charging info rarely makes any sense. It’s very obviously inaccurate.

This problem started for me maybe a month or two ago. However, I only notice the problem when the PowerBeats are connected to my MacBook Pro (running OS 11.x) and when I am Zoom calls. The left earbud will sound the battery warning and cut out after about 35-40 minutes.

I don't think I've experienced the problem when connected to my iPhone. I can listen to music or watch videos for hours.

I wonder if the problem could be related to mic usage. I am going to experiment with setting the mic to use the right earbud and see if things change.

Hello,

I have the same issue. Happening the last few days. The left bud does at 75%. The right works fine. Tried everything. Am on iOS 15.0.1

the left bud also doesn’t connect to the charger as well as the right.. cleaned the buds and the vase thoroughly! Still stuck. Plus I’m in India and Apple doesn’t even retail these here and Out of Warranty! So the support basically sucks here! Loved them and now they’re just paperweight!

Hi

Ive had same problem with my powerbeats pros. Left unit shuts down after about 20 minutes. Have been in touch with support. DONT BOTHER. Apple support used to be helpful and had a set of powerbeats 3 repaired a few times. Mine are just over 2 years old and they dont want to know about this problem.

My suggestion is dont buy Beats they are just not good quality. They are expensive junk that Apple wont back up when clearly product has generic faults.

Just FYI, there is no new firmware for Powerbeats Pro yet. Just for AirPods. And it definitely is NOT a hardware problem. It’s a firmware bug. There’s nothing wrong with your battery. Batteries don’t decline in longevity this way. They degrade very gradually over time and generally do so evenly.

I completely agree on not buying anymore Beats products though. Beats is the red headed stepchild of the Apple product lineup. They don’t give them priority in testing and development and frankly don’t seem to care about much at all. Apple has completely dropped the ball here.

Thanks for replying

Yes I think there is a reason Apple dont have a specific Beats section in these topics menu as it would fill their databases lol.

I had numerous problems with Powerbeats 3 which they fixed every time but these have been OK apart from well documented connection issues until battery did this.

Apples support with Beats is like they just dont care. Maybe theyre going to write the brand off.

Exact same thing happened to me. I've had them for a little over a year (warranty just expired...) and they now shut off when the battery hits 85%. Effectively reduces them to 15% of their expected utility, making these $250 headphones effectively useless less than two years after purchase.

I spent an afternoon on the phone with Apple service and they told me to either bring them to an Apple Store or to buy new ones. I then brought them to the Apple Store and they told me to pay $150 for new batteries (with no guarantee this would resolve the problem as it seems to be a firmware problem) or, of course, to buy new ones.

This happened to me one year ago and I didn't know it was a generic problem. In my case my left powerbeats pro shuts down at 25 minutes, then 5, then 10 seconds...

I don't experience the 55%, when I put it in the case it says it has 99% battery left.

We must show the case on social media by commenting any pic or tweet by apple so they feel pressured and do their work.
