PowerBeats Pro shutting down with battery
When using my Powerbeats Pro, the left earpiece shuts down randomly, even if it shows more than 80% battery on my iPhone. This only happens with the left one, the right one works normally.

Hello oscarrdz1977,
Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having trouble with your PowerBeats Pro. It looks like the left earpiece shuts down randomly even though the Beats have more than 80% battery. We're happy to help. Have you tried resetting your Beats? A reset can help with power and other issues.

Update the firmware of your Beats product
Cheers!
I'm having
the same issue. Pretty sure it started with that last update. Not sure why no
Apple rep has chimed in here to discuss it and provide a possible solution. It
certainly isn't a battery issue as everyone is reporting it shuts down at
exactly 55%. Pop it back in the case, then you can wear it again. Not such a
big deal sitting at my desk, albeit inconvenient, its not so convenient carrying this
big case around the gym waiting for the ear bud to stop working.
APPLE!
What's up with the firmware?!?!?!
The fact about 300+ users have this issue despite us restating that no solutions work; Really signifies a lack of attention and understanding that this has to be a major defect. How come all of us only have 1 earbud that drains out while the other is working at the desired 8 hours. This is not acceptable by any means and a big hassle for the premium that we pay for apple's products.
Yep. They don’t even have a way of reporting bugs for Powerbeats. Just for AirPods. They’re clearly a second (or third) class citizen within the Apple org chart. Even apple’s own products sometimes don’t receive all the support they deserve. But Beats products are the red headed step-children of the company. I will not be purchasing another Beats product. 😔
It should not have to come to this. It is clearly a software bug that should or one would hope, is easily fixed with an update. I’ve tried all of these remedies to no avail. Do something Apple!!! You bought this company now support the products!!!
so about a thousand of us have 1 earbud that has good battery life and the other fails at 55; and its happening to everyone suddenly, it has to be software if not software its a faulty product. Something isint adding up
I keep waiting for much smarter people than me to solve this mystery. Seems it is unsolvable by the community itself. The continued lack of solution from Apple speaks volumes about their intent. Will a more visible social media campaign via twitter be a more effective method to get attention to this? There should be no consumer centric reason why an obvious widespread malfunction is not being addressed by the company.
I’ve got an appointment with the Apple store (UK) tomorrow so will revert back with any updates I get from that session. My buds are out of warranty but will try to claim under UK consumer law for a replacement if they do not recognise that there is an issue
well yes everyone that read this.
i heard u should not update ios and u need to wait because it have many bugs and problem at the start. so when ios 15 arrived i did not update and waited until december and now i have same problem with my powerbeats pro which i did not have any problem about 1 year. it's true that apple doing this to make users buy new products and if not, to repair it cost same as if u buy new ones. totally trash brand just wants money.
it's funny too they planned to this happen after garanti expired. never ever gonna buy apple products!!
After every new update they do something that take battery health down and make us buy new iphones.
i hope they dont delete this the TRUTH!
I have been having the same issue with the left earbuds that die after 20 mins or so and when I insert them in the charging case show up at 55% charge. I took them to apple store (UK) and even agreed to pay battery charge for them to inspect it. They have performed the tests and I got a message saying they were fine with no need for battery replacement!
I am yet to test them again as waiting to receive them but the sad thing is that the Apple staff person said that they have not had other customers report this issue!
This is clearly a firmware issue. Apple can you guys please fix this instead of paying damages in the future and annoying customers in the meantime. I really loved this product before this issue surfaced last year!
I'm having the same issue using an Android device. I have a Samsung S21 Ultra and been using it with my Powerbeats Pro and all of a sudden recently they started dying at 55% battery. Both earphones are having the same issue. I think it happened after an update but am not positive. I do think is a firmware issue with the latest update.
Same exact thing for me.. right bud dies, place it back in the case it jumps to 55% and then dies again. Called apple support talked to a senior analysts and they said that Apple is not considering this an issue with the device. Please guys let’s keep working this. What a shame.
I believe that I bought my pair in Oct 2019 so was fairly short after the release but am now getting the reported issue with the left earbud. Has this 55% issue started to effect any users with devices bought more recently? Wondering if it was an issue only with the first batches?

“…Apple’s biggest acquisition in the Cook era — buying Beats, a headphone brand and streaming service, for $3bn — could be paid for with three days’ worth of revenue.”
Yet fixing this for its consumers is too cost prohibitive 🤷♂️?
I went for a 1 hour run and the right earbud died after aprox 40mins. At home i put both earbuds into the charging case and charged them for exactly 1minute..
When i opened the case it said the right had 97% and left had 86%.. wich make sence cuz the right only worked through half of the duration.. Of course they both charged abit the one minute they were in the case.
When they came of out the case (with me just charging them, not doing anything else) they both worked.
Its obviously not a battery problem, rather a connectivity problem of some sort.. perhaps a bluetooth blockade (sences its out of range or something and shuts down) or a firmware bug of some sort.
Im not going to spend money to replace it since the warranty is out, im just gonna continue use it and run with one earbud working and continue to write on forums and complain about it untill they break and then buy a brand that actually works.
Have had my PowerBeats Pro for more than 2 years and starting to experience this issue with my left earbud. Fully charged (I always keep them in the case) and after about 30 minutes or so, the left bud dies. When I put it back in the charging case, it immediately shows up as almost fully charged. Very disappointing. They were my favorite until I had to start wearing eyeglasses and they became a bit uncomfortable and ended up buying the Airpods Pro because they don't have the ear hook.
My boyfriend got his PowerBeats Pro as a gift from me and is also having the issue to the point that he ended up buying a refurbished pair.
