Error failed to open a connection to the device (-21345). Epson ET3750

I can suddenly not scan anymore. Must have happened since the last update of macOS Big Sur. Printer is still reachable and prints ok but the scanner does show above error message. Did all, deleted the printer and all settings, reinstalled the printer via Secure Airprint/Airprint (both options), did not work, printer always reachable. Scanner brings the error message. Installed Epson driver and selected my printer model. Same result. Urgent help requested. Need scanning for work!

As per Epson Canada - drivers over here for ET 3750 Have the ET 2750 version and only needed This file contains the Epson Scan 2 OCR Component v3.0.4. This component adds the following functionality: 

  • Create searchable PDFs with Epson Scan 2, ScanSmart, and Document Capture v1.6.5 or later. 
  • Convert scanned document to Microsoft Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX) and PowerPoint (PPTX) documents with editable text using ScanSmart, Document Capture Pro v1.6.5, or later. 

Note: ScanSmart and Document Capture Pro are available for select models only.Compatible systems :

macOS 11.x, macOS 10.15.x, macOS 10.14.x, macOS 10.13.x, macOS 10.12.x, Mac OS X 10.11.x, Mac OS X 10.10.x, Mac OS X 10.9.x, Mac OS X 10.8.x, Mac OS X 10.7.x, Mac OS X 10.6.x
