Magic Keyboard for iPad not working

Hello, after updating to iPadOS 14.4.2 my Magic Keyboard for iPad is no longer connecting to my iPad Pro 12.9 inch (3rd Generation) at all. I've tried following other guides to get it to reconnect, but nothing I have tried has worked.

Hello, There is a problem with iPadOS 14.4.2 update

After updating to iPadOS 14.4.2 my Magic Keyboard for iPad is no longer connecting to my iPad Pro. I've tried following the above steps to get it to reconnect, but it didn't work.

It also gives the message, "Accessory Not Supported" which makes no sense!

It was working before the software update so this is definitely a software issue. Please advise how to resolve it

Thank you

14.5 doesn’t work either. I spent hours with their crap instructions, an entire Sunday with their support team, who dropped my conversation four different times when they couldn’t help, then agreed to talk to a “senior” to give them information so they could fix it. First question they asked: “Did you try disconnecting it and reconnecting it physically?” Absolute garbage. Go fix your crap software APPLE!! Else, don’t sell such high priced accessories that don’t work with your updates. Absolutely terrible. And worst customer service. It’s been over three weeks.

My Magic Keyboard abruptly crumped. Worked fine one day, not at all the next. Stopped working entirely, will not transmit power to iPad Pro 12.9 when plugged in to power source through the port in the hinge, is not recognized by the iPad either on 14.4.2 or with the new 14.5 update, and no typing or trackpad action shows up. I took it to an Apple Service Provider who confirmed that it was not working and it has been sent back to Apple under warranty. I have had it for 9 months. No abuse, no getting it wet, has not been dropped on the floor, no usage of offbrand chargers or cables, nothing that I can recall. It was not getting heavy usage, either (not a lot of hinge flexing). No funny smells, no weird sizzling sounds, just dead as a doornail. We'll see what Apple can do about it. It's not available on the online Apple Store anymore so I hope they have some old new stock to replace it, especially for $329.

I also went to the Apple Store and was able to get a replacement, although it required three total trips unfortunately. Just so you all know, if you have your original box that the keyboard came in you should bring it to the store with you. The serial number is very difficult to read on the material they printed it on. Fortunately I still had my box, which it is also on and much easier to read. They said they could have replaced it without the serial number, but it would have been more of a pain.

Also, I have started doing updates without the keyboard attached now. It may not make a difference, but I figure it can't hurt.

This is not the solution to the problems. The issue arises from a failure of the most recent software update. The software update has caused damage to a previously functioning connection between the iPad and the Apple Magic Keyboard. These devices are not toys; these devices are necessary business appliances which, when they fail, cause injury to business.

Please confirm that Apple is

1) aware that an unanticipated software failure has caused damage to a previously functioning connection between at least some iPads and their associated Magic Keyboards;

2) that Apple has designated programmers to analyze and identify the software failure;

3) that Apple (if possible) estimates ___ days until the software failure can be identified and a correction can be written for the software failure; and

4) that Apple will in fact endeavor to correct the software failure.

I'm having the same problem with iPad Pro 9.7-inch. The magic keyboard worked fine until some software update, at which point it stopped functioning. I've attempted to clean the pins and connectors, restart the iPad, remove all other connectors, etc. It made no difference. The message "This accessory is not supported on this device" does appear upon restart (i.e. when the keyboard is detected.) I am on iOS 14.7.1. This seems like a software issue.

After updating to IpadOS 14.6, my Ipad Air 3 smart keyboard quit working. I have tried all the fixes suggested, none of them work. I spent an hour with support and they were completely useless.

Take the smart keyboard in to service is their only answer.

Come-on, Apple. This is a software issue that you have to fix. There are many other similar complaints on the chat boards associated with this problem related to updates.

Spent a couple hours on the phone with support. Last solution was to attach the IPad to a Mac running ITunes and do an update through "restore." The suggestion was that maybe IPad didn't get a full update in the last updates. No acknowledgement that the 14.xx upgrades removed the Smart Keyboard as a recognized device.

Echoes of "battery gate."

So, I called Apple Support on a follow up from when I first sought help with this problem. I first mentioned this thread and the advisor took note of that I wasn't alone in this matter and had me take several screen shots of any, "this accessory is not supported by this device" notifications that happened during our conversation. Because the screen shots' meta data have the time stamp, they can pair the occurrences up with the system logs they had me submit and hopefully an engineer will look at them soon. The advisor said he would get back to me as soon as he hears from the engineers. I will report back here what I learn, if I can.

I have a 3rd gen 12.9 inch iPP running iPad iOS 14.7.1 The first advisor I talked to a few days earlier had me restart my device and the incessant notifications seemed to stop, but sure enough, later the same day, the problem resumed with a vengeance. Anyway. Stay tuned.

I had the exact same problem with iPad Pro and Apple magic keyboard.

contacted Apple support, followed all of their suggestions. No help.

Finally as per Apple support advice, conatcted Apple Service Lab. Gave them the iPad + Magic Keyboard. They tried to claim it was my fault !!! But eventaully replaced the keyboard with a new one.

The new Magic keyboard kind of works. But not consistently. Sometimes there is no response. Othertimes there is no cursor.

Looks like a product to AVOID !
