When playing Audible, the app shuts down after the screen goes to sleep. How do we fix this? iPhone 12 currently. Previously tried a couple of solutions suggested elsewhere, like closing lol other apps, restarting iPhone and app, etc.
Can’t listed uninterrupted in car, in bed, or anywhere without either shutting off iPhone screen sleep option or repeatedly unlocking iPhone.

I contacted Audible about this problem and was told to remove the audiobook from my phone and then re-download it again. This solved my problem. (They said if it happed with multiple books, the problem was probably with not having the current updates of the system software.)
Same thing is happening to me too. Audible stops playing when iPhone screen dims. iOS 14.4.2
Thanks, this fixed it! I just started having the issue this week and my app updated a couple days ago. Restarting my phone cleared the issue completely!

Mine has done this also. I have to reboot my phone to get it to play on sleep.
I just had this issue tonight and I think I figured it out. Several apps on my phone needed to be updated, including audible. Try restarting your phone after updating any apps, fixed my issue right up.
This occurrence of the audible app halting when the lights go out just started this last few days. I saw that there was a you tube video which multiple steps to reset the phone and the app. I don't want to go through all of that if there is a simple fix. If anyone knows please share.
July 25/21. What a load of Crap! I did not have this issue until last night July24,21 when I installed a update. Stop spreading untruths. This is an Apple issue created by Apple. By the way we have 9 apple devices in my home.

I’m experiencing something similar when using another app for a Heos sound bar. The purchased music on my iPhone is streamed via WiFi to the sound bar using the Heos app. When the screen turns off and the phone locks, the music stops.
Oh, that's exactly what's happening to me -- I do my walk and listen to a book. It's frustrating that it keeps stopping everytime it goes to sleep/back to home screen. I thought it was something connected to Audible since I also had a problem with my iPhone 11 syncing with my iPod Touch. But then it did it when I was listening to a video, so it's not the Audible app. Did you find an answer to solve this?
My iPad Pro 3rd Gen with latest IOS for the last week most of the time stop playing when screen locked. The setting in the application is set to play with screen locked. I have not run into this and I have used Audible for the last 20 years. Does anyone have any idea why?

Same. I regularly walk while listening to Audible on my iPhone while it's screen locked in my pocket. This is a new issue. One of my favorite uses for the iPhone no longer works.

New phone played audible just fine for two weeks, now every time screen dims and goes off, audible quits. Cannot use it to listen to a book on the plane or lying down to go to sleep or in the car.
