tvOS 14.5 Adjust color balance stuck on preparing

OK, finally! What did the trick for me was finally figuring out that all the advice to “reset network settings” on the phone did not mean just forgetting and then rejoining the WiFi network, it meant actually Resetting the Bloody Network Settings via Settings/General/Reset! Worked like a charm! Whew!

Yes, I can vouch for Mitch 751's advice. After trouble-shooting for a while I discovered that the audio -> Wireless Audio Sync and video -> Colour Balance only work if your iPhone and Apple TV are on the same WiFi network. If your ATV is connect via ethernet, the features do not seem to function.

Ok this is how I solved .. first on my iPhone - reset network setting, then on Apple TV forget the current wifi channel, then choose it again and input password ... now I can do the calibration.

I, too, was having issues getting it to work, but I finally figured it out. You have to hold your iPhone almost right up against the TV. If you’re a few inches back, it won’t start calibrating.

Be sure to Reset Network Settings on the phone, via Settings/General/Reset. Having tried everything else, that finally did it for me.

I had the exactly issue, Apple TV is on line and sharing the same wifi channel with my iPhone, I can even control my ATV with iPhone, however, something not done 100% (bluetooth?), I have reboot my wifi, iPhone, ATV but did not help. Not until I did a reset network setting on my iPhone, and first forget the channel (wifi) and chose again.

Now it works

Resetting the network on both devices didn't work for me, neither did multiple reboots for both.

However, following a tip from Reddit, signing out of iCloud on the phone did the trick.

I figured it out ! I literally turned off my tv and turned it back on and it worked.

Did exactly the same, turned tv off and on, and it worked!

Well … what worked for me was ‘ Video and Audio> Reset Video Settings.

the colour swathes cycle as before () but this time it says its measuring, and I then get a scene where I can chose Original or Balanced. But I’ve lost audio sync and I don’t get the notification so something isn’t quite right. 2 steps forward? 1 step backwards.

some people able to do it by put in 4K SDR with “Match dynamic content”

I faced the same issue, but when I reset my network settings it finally worked

Well, lots of things seem to work ... I variously had just the red, then it cycled :-(
