Cannot connect to SMB share

Since installing upgrade macOS 11.3 I cannot connect to SMB shares on AVM Fritz Box. Back to 11.2 all works fine. Do anyone have a solution for that?

Mac mini, macOS 11.2

Using SMB2 solved the problem for me (but I hope Apple will solve the SMB3 issue a.s.a.p.).

Use the following on Console:

echo "[default]" | sudo tee -a /etc/nsmb.conf

echo "protocol_vers_map=2" | sudo tee -a /etc/nsmb.conf

No. The OP is having a problem with Apple software, specifically Apples constantly and consistently poor SMB implementations. Why cannot Apple get a 30 year old network file sharing protocol right? Apple needs to go back to using Samba as an SMB stack because obviously Apple cannot get it right for 10 years now. There are thousands of complaints about this and your response is to blame AVM? Nonsense.

No, I have no problem with 3rd party software. I have a problem using SMB shares with macOS 11.3. The issue occured after upgrade from 11.2 to 11.3. When I use a backup of 11.2 from Time Machine all works fine again. I use also devices with iOS 14.5. The devices can connect to the same SMB shares after updating to 14.5. I have also Windows 10 computers and a connect to the same SMB shares works also. If you use a web search with words like 'macos 11.3 smb' or 'macos 11.3 smb fritz' or 'macos 11.3 smb nas' you will see that also other users have the same issue. As an example https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252709691 . Why I should contact Fritz Support when the issue seems to be related to macOS? Playing with settings provided in https://support.apple.com/en-ge/HT212277 (echo "mc_on=no" | sudo tee -a /etc/nsmb.conf) did not solved the issue.

Hello there Micha B.,

We understand you're having some issues with third-party software just while using version 11.3. Let's take a closer look as we do our best to provide some additional insight.

To get started, if this only happens with version 11.3, then that means there's likely an incompatibly with the software that you're using. Since it's up to the app developer to maintain compatibility, have you already contacted Fritz Support? They would also be in the best position to offer any compatibility updates for their program or offer any specific troubleshooting for their hardware or software.

We hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.

Take care.

Hey Barber,

I'm having the exact same issue as Micha. I have a WD MyCloud Home networked drive and I can no longer connect to the Public share on it.

My wife hasn't upgraded to 11.3 and she is still able to connect but as soon as I upgraded I lost the ability to connect.

My computer can discover the drive but when I try to mount the share the connection just fails. I'm using the guest user to connect. I type ⌘K and I get the connect window, I select the device I try to connect using the guest option I get a little spinner then the dialog box wiggles and asks me to try to log in again.
