Issues with resolution Apple TV 4K after TVOS update 14.5

Since I've ungrade my ATV to 14.5 I have had issues with the resolution. It won't appear now through my AV reciever. I've had to use it in another TV and changed it to 576p. I tried this in my reciever but when I try to change back my screen goes black. It was working perfectly before this update. Also the ATV is now stuck on 576p and when I try to change it to any other resolution it gives me an error and stays on 576p. What a nightmare.

I was running Apple TV 4k connected to Denon AVR and Sony A8H. I was having the same issue, running tvOS 14.5. Switched to 576p SD and then got stuck there. Unable to change to any other video resolution, even basic 1080 p60 SDR. Tried everything on the Apple TV; rebooted several times, reset video settings, removed AC power and HDMI cable for 20 seconds from back of Apple TV.

Finally solved the issue! Updated software to tvOS 14.6, tried to change video resolution but that did not work. However, when i engaged the “Enable Dolby Vision” button, it went into it usual 25 second test mode and i did get a 4k Dolby Vision signal. I clicked accept/continue button (the top choice - sorry can’t recall the exact word for “yes, i can see the Dolby Vision test screen”) and all was well. Apple TV 4k was back to normal, able to output all flavours of 1080p, 4k SDR and 4K HDR. Bottom line is the Enable Dolby Vision seems to have broken the logic loop and restore normal functions. (tvOS 14.6)

I've spoken to apple support team and they just recommend me to not to do anything from my side. although am relaxed cause my apple tv which I purchased back in 2019 still in warranty till 2022 so they will provide me the service from their side with best resolution. and perhaps beta version will make me face some new bugs so am not taking any risk, am just facing glitches in apple music in tv os

I am having the same issue with Apple TV connected to a Marantz receiver and is now struck with 576p as the only usable resolution as well.

One more thing, I used to be able to use Dolby ATMOS through the receiver, but not any more after the TVOS 14.5 update. 8-(

Same issue, tried everything, lower res works but won’t refresh, can’t see the app selection moving. I reset, reset and update, tweak TV settings. All no go, it’s either green screen of death or fozen image. Interestingly if I switch my tv back and forth between panoramic and normal view it will refresh the screen. Help Apple!!!!

Your lucky on my Onkyo no matter what input I put it into it comes up as 1280p even if the ATV is set to 720p within their settings. Very strange. Even if I set it to 720p on the resolution it will still broadcast in 1280p Something wrong. Wa working perfectly on 14.4

Great write up thanks. However after talking to support 5 times now they said there is not enough people reporting to warrant raising the issues of the resolution and pass through which is ridiculous considering it only appeared after updating from 14.4

Has anyone had this issues resolved yet? Logged it with Apple support now half a dozen times and nothing. Honestly Apple are renowned for fixing one bug and creating another. There is obviously something they did in 14.5 that was not present in 14.4 and needs resolving. Come on Apple. Look into this as soon as possible.

But the enable Dolby vision will only appear if your TV supports it so if it doesn't support it you can't do it. Again Apple has done something after 14.4 that my reciever does not like. 14.5/14.6 is no different. Sound there but no picture. It was working perfectly before 14.5 If the freeze of going to 576p still happens then the bug is there still.

Dolby Vision setting will not appear if the TV does not support it in settings, sane if it's not a 4K TV it will only show 1080p. I can't go direct to the TV at this time. As I said it was working now it's not after 14.5 so something is still broken somewhere.

Yes many times. Done soft resets and still nothing. Everything was working perfectly non 14.4 since this update to 14.5 things haven't gone smoothly at all.

Do you have another TV that you can connect it directly to with a better resolution than 576p?

As I stated I had it in 1080p, I changed it to 576p which it did but now it won't change back. Keep getting an error.

Are you saying that you have reset the AppleTV and updated the software and the issue with the resolution has returned?

Just to let you know that the new update does not fix the issue with resolution and pass through on AV recievers 👎
