Paint chipping on my IPhone 12 (Blue)

This issue happened to me where my first iPhone was iPhone 8 plus. Sold off after 1 year usage. Have been using Samsung, Huawei and XiaoMi, but paint chipping does not happen to any of my Android phones. So just sharing my experience here, I wont deny the iOS is better than Android. However, Apple is doing good at things which are internal but they are bad on external. If you are concern about the external, Android might suit you.

I am using a case offcouse but even one day on use without case cause scratches and even case couldn't protect camera ring from scratch this hasn't happened on any device I have used it's very unusual.

I am also having this issue with my year old iPhone 12 - the black paint is starting to come off the lens rim. The phone is always in a case with a raised edge, and has not been dropped. Fortunately the lenses themselves are free of any kind of scratches. I did not have these issues with my iPhone 8, 6, 5s or 4 previously. It really sucks given the fortune these things cost. I wonder if it will impact the exchange value when I upgrade to an iPhone 14 next year.

I am also facing the same issue in just 2 months.

we pay such a huge amount and apple uses such a cheap quality.

Really disgusting.

i read many other posts that apple is not accepting this in replacement.

We all should take some action and let them know that they can’t fool customers.

Company exists because there are customers. We should let everyone know this chipping issue so that people think twice before buying. This would be the only thing we can do as they don’t know what goodwill is. They are here to fool people. Charge so much and use cheap quality.

Had tried multiple visit and call with customer for same issue and no use.

can anyone let me know about file a case against apple since there are huge number of customer facing same issue and 100% it’s manufacturing defect.

Thank you for this advice. My iPhone 12 camera is facing the same problem. Based on this advise I went to one of the service centre here in KLCC, Kuala Lumpur and after doing the diagnostic, they said there is nothing wrong with the phone and they don’t cover any ‘cosmetic damage’. Only after I persistently insisted them to check why a barely 3 months old iphone have chipping of paint or whatever is covering the phone’s camera rim, they said ok, I can send in for the specialist technician to check further, which will take another 14 business days to resolve.

By the way, I have an iphone 11 which is still working fine and in stellar ‘cosmetic’ condition. It’s so frustrating to say the least, if the new iphone 12 is truly having an inferior cosmetic quality with its premium price tag.

This is unacceptable that Apple hasn’t said anything, imagine buying a new car and less then a year into owning it the paint starts chipping? There’s obviously an issue with manufacturing/paint that Apple doesn’t want to acknowledge. My wife is still using an 11 pro that has none of the issues I’m having with my 12.

It really is UNACCEPTABLE APPLE!!! comparing my wife’s 11 pro which is a year older and is having NONE of the paint issues we’re seeing. It doesn’t look like the camera rings are painted on the 11 series like on the 12/13. I’m curious if anyone is having the same issues with battery health I’m having as well? Agin comparing to my wife who’s iPhone 11 Pro is a year older and is more of a heavy user then I am, booth of use the same style wireless charging stand has 95% battery health compared to my 87%

Yes, I have the same issue, and it is chipping more and more. And now my phone looks ugly. I really want this phone be be replaced, but apply support is saying that this is cosmatic damage and they cannot replace it.

If damage is not caused due to physical force by customers it’s represented bad quantity job by apple and this problem seems to be wide spread apple should provide resolution to its customers (same is happening with my phone 2 months old)and this will affect resale value

i also facing the same problem with my IPhone 13 colour is chipping from first week of buying…. This photo I clicked after 6 days of buying my phone…. Now after 1 month it’s horrible the quality of this iPhone is very cheep…. I request apple to solve my problem instantly….

Obviously you have made contact with surfaces with the lens rings or the paint wouldn't be chipping off.

I'm having the same issue! It got even worse when i put lens protector to it. It is chipping off automatically!
