I noticed my iphone so slow and laggy since updated to IOS 14.5.1 according to their recommend.
does anyone have the same problem?

To any ll who have posted recently - how much time has passed since you updated to 14.5.1 ?? As Dogcow-Moof posted - most problems resolved themselves after 24 hours +. I initially had really slow (slaggy) system when I updated to ios 14.5.1 but after 24 hours it improved and now it works fine (iphone (7) and ipad (2020).
My experiences are mirroring yours but I also noticed it doesn’t even pick up or stay connected to WIFI most of the time. I’ve even had turn turn my screen brightness up because it seems so dim and a bunch of my apps seem to trigger the phone to reset or the passwords are missing. It’s like 14.5 fried the phone.
Lagging across multiple apps on my new iPhone 12 since update to 14.5.1. Did more than restarted - I wiped the phone (hard reset), no improvement. This is reeking of intention. Not gonna get me to upgrade, oh no you won’t!
I couldn't imagine why this temporary fix works for now. They also stopped signing previous IOS which we cannot do any downgrade process as for now.
I bought iphone12pm just to play PUBG MOBILE. I noticed a frame drop whenever the circle almost finish with 30/40 players left which never happened in previous update. I always record while playing the game, but as for latest update the fps goes drop super crazy like middle range phones whenever i tried to record while ingame!
My iphone does not get warm when heavy use anymore. But it gets so laggy on some heavy consumption memory apps.
I am pretty sure its to reduce the heat on the new iphone 12….
I have lost hope with this new update !

I'm having the same problem with my iphone 11. Not only lagging, also geekbench score drops dramatically
is it working fine even if you force to restart again?
after 20 to 40 mins later from the restarted, my phone comes to normalcy too.

iPhone 7 + fine after 14.6, a bit snappier actually.
I still have the laggy performance on my IPhone 8 after i update to ios 14.6 the battery drains very fast and its still in good health condition

Why are you restarting the iPhone?
Do you have multiple email accounts syncing to the iPhone?
Does this happen when the iPhone is fully charged?
Maybe Apple Engineering SHOULD read these forums then they would learn what problems their USERS are having. I prefer to call them CUSTOMERS.
I do keep all apps updated regularly. The issue is with the new update. I’ll see how the phone is tomorrow. Thanks.

In March last year, I updated my first iphone 7 to IOS13.4.?? (not exactly remember now), then what happened was my phone passed away. the phone couldn't be restarted due to "The iPhone “iPhone” could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (9)." I talked to Apple Customer service about the people for an hour. nothing resolved at all. what She recommended me wait until battery ran out. then try it again.
Visited apple store to get support. unfortunately they could do nothing due to unknown hardware or memory failure. they didn't seem looked an engineer. their knowledge was no better than community users.
In end, I had to buy the second iphone 7. now I have this issue after IOS 14.5.1 installed.
I feel so negative that apple can do anything on this even if you call them.

After updating iOS to 14.5.1 I noticed that my iPhone 11 Pro MAX lost it's smoothness in the UI and in the applications I've been using.
I tried to restart the device, free up some space but this does not help.
How this can be solved?
I’m experiencing slow and latency with the apps as well. Most notably is the notes app. When I type any notes the text is far behind from when I’m typing. I can stop typing and the text will catch up. I have an iPhone 11, 256 gb, it is a new phone so it still has a bulk of its memory. As a new phone I expect it to be more speedy. I’m disappointed in its performance.
