Macbook M1 air opening lid opens up on slight push

Hello everyone,

I just bought the new m1 air, 3 days ago and first time laptop user

I'm confused should i worry or is this all normal :

My Mac opens up ( top surface ) while I do a slight push towards upward or i keep it vertical the lid / top surface pops up, I don't like that as it keeps logging in/logging off.

If whatever case you're using to protect your Macbook is sitting on top of the keyboard or top case, I would personally NOT use it. The tolerances of these MacBooks are so tight that anything between the screen and the top case/keyboard can damage rather than protect it. This "protective layer" that is seen in the video is the cause of the lid opening so easily. The lid is held down onto the top case by strong magnets that require a specific tolerance to operate correctly. Adding any additional layer of anything will mess with those tolerances.

Not only that but this "protective layer" is likely contacting the LCD itself and that would be even more of a concern to me than just the lid opening too easily.

    • hard shell

I noticed removing hard shell slightly solves the issue,

but still the lid opens up on slight push (Opening threshold), I suppose it's normal, I'm new to laptops.

Here is a demo :

(Ps. Ignore the audio, speaking Hindi :) )
