How long does this process generally take? I'm migrating from an iMac 27" to a MacBook Pro and the progress bar has hardly moved in over an hour - still says "preparing to transfer user documents". I am using an external drive with Time Machine's most recent copy on it.

We would recommend staying connected to your external drive until the process is complete.

It did in fact take a number of hours - the thing that got me worried was the "progress bar" barely moved at all for the first hour...I didn't know if it was stuck somehow. But later when I looked again it had gotted 30% or so of the way over, so after that I just left it to run overnight.
