I just updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 14.6 and since then the iPhone's battery drains while my smart battery case remains fully charged (ps. I did try all the steps stated in other articles).
Does anyone have a similar problem? if so do you have any solution?

Yes indeed. Had reported this issue at Apple Support. After iOS 14.6, the smart battery indicator no longer appears at lock screen the moment u plug in/unplug the charging cord, and the iPhone apparently draws power from the internal battery instead of the case. Remove/re-attach the case seems to be the temporary solution. The issue did not occur prior to iOS 14.6, i really believe it’s a iOS bug. Hope Apple Team could investigate & rectify it asap as it’s quite a serious issue.
Not for me it’s not. It’s displayed but the smart battery still does not kick in my phone just died and I had to plug it in in the smart case.
Thanks guys my phone was not showing there was any updates. It usually runs them automatically at night but I checked now and it’s there!!!! I am going to run it now .
I’ve updated to IOS 14.7 and still cannot charge the case and phone simultaneously.
I’m glad it’s fixed but at the same time a little infuriated they never mentioned it was fixed or admitted it was ever broken but you know… Apple!
Yes. About 6 weeks ago they could have said “ sorry we stuffed up but we are working on a fix so bear with us “. Would have built some goodwill. But no…..

I thought 14.7 and 14.7.1 fixed too. A couple days later, the phone started drawing power from the phone before the case again. Looks like it's still broke.
I have not installed 14.7.1 yet but so far I have not had this problem with 14.7. What has been the experience for other users who installed 14.7.1?
Mine is fine no issues, been using it for several weeks now. What model phone do you have?
Still not working on my XR. Updated to latest software 14.7.1. Am on my third replacement case. Local genius bar have no idea what the problem is.
Extremely frustrating.
All of the power off/on and reinsert tricks work for a couple days and then the problem returns

I have iPhone SE 2020 and iOS 14.7 didn’t solve the issue for me.
It happens every time I charge my phone though. The fastest and easiest way is to slightly remove the case when I take it off the charger in the morning and then reposition the case. No need to reboot for me.
It appears the update is treating different phones and different cases in different ways. As I said earlier my iPhone 11 promax and its Apple smart battery case is churching up just nicely. It doesn’t display as two separate batteries however. However it is charging up the battery case initially and the battery case is then in turn charging the battery.
how do I know this? To test both items i used the phone for 12 hours attached to the battery case. (Normally in previous IOS updates it indicated 3/4 of the charge is gone from the battery case but the phone is 100% charged. )
i removed the phone from the battery case and then plugged the phone directly. The phone displayed 100% charged. Therefore the case was charging the phone. I plugged in the case separately from the phone and it charged up fully in a couple of hours. Orange light-charging to green light - fully charged case.
next test. I used the phone for 12 hours with the phone/case combo plugged into the wall for the full 12 hours. Separated the 2, plugged the case in, and it showed green-fully charged, iPhone 11, fully charged.
conclusion. With this specific combo, iPhone 11/Apple smart battery case, it is functioning properly but does not display the smart battery case info at all. Hope the developers get their act together.
