I just updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 14.6 and since then the iPhone's battery drains while my smart battery case remains fully charged (ps. I did try all the steps stated in other articles).
Does anyone have a similar problem? if so do you have any solution?

Yes indeed. Had reported this issue at Apple Support. After iOS 14.6, the smart battery indicator no longer appears at lock screen the moment u plug in/unplug the charging cord, and the iPhone apparently draws power from the internal battery instead of the case. Remove/re-attach the case seems to be the temporary solution. The issue did not occur prior to iOS 14.6, i really believe it’s a iOS bug. Hope Apple Team could investigate & rectify it asap as it’s quite a serious issue.
This is a temporary fix, it has to be reset everyday, everyday you have to go to Airplane mode, turn it off and back on, then turn off the phone and restart it. It only works for one day. You have to keep doing this everyday. Please, Apple fix this flaw in the update.
I’m on my 3rd one! They all look just like that! Takes about 1.5 years of usage for me till the sides tear away. Once again I’m glad I’m still on 14.5.1 where my battery case at least functions normally. I hope this is actually fixed going forward. I think maybe there has been enough noise for them to notice by now. I guess we will see!! Hang in there!
iPhone 7 iOS 14.7 - the problem with the smart battery case seems to be solved, now both batteries are displayed when the power is connected and charging takes place after disconnecting the power cord without additional action.
I have an Iphone SE 2020 with the iphone 7 smart battery that used to work no problem but after 14.6 it stopped working correctly. i got tired of taking it out of the case to "re-enable" the smart case. I had success connecting my phone to a computer to get the battery case to work again. hopefully after 14.7 it will work again like it should.
try to remove the smart battery case, completely turn off your iPhone, hold the power button, then turn it on without a smart battery case and after full loading, insert it into the smart battery case, and try to charge and then disconnect from charging.
So I went to the Genius Bar. They ran all kinds of tests on the iPhone and battery case and found no problems. They said that since the smart battery case was designed for the iPhone 7 and does not officially support the SE, the problem might be some software incompatibility that they can’t do anything about. I asked them why it works on my friend’s (and all the other people in this forum’s) SE then, but they couldn’t answer.
I don’t have any other options at this point, except maybe to wait for the next iOS update.
