Mobile Data update failure issue:iphone 7

I have been facing mobile data update failure issue since last 6 months and have tried installing updates multiple times hut after last try on April 30 2021, the cell phone got shut down. I finally found that Apple has accepted that there is hardware issue with iphones which were sold during during 2016-2018 (Specific models have been identified)


My cell phone model falls ((A1660) under this category and was bought in Dec 2016. I have tried calling at apple support number but no one picks up the call.


How can I share my cell phone model details and claim for repair.

Go to the Apple Support page: Get Support

Click on Physical & Damage » Device frozen or unresponsive » iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus » (Did this resolve your issue?) No

From there you can chat with Apple directly and they will assist you depended on where you are located.

Download the Apple Support App in your iPhone 12:

If you are logged in with your Apple ID, your iPhone 7 should be listed under "My Devices". You also will find More products from where you can choose specify the device you are having issues and be clear that you are making a shedule with another device (since yours ins't working)

And why you can't connect with the AppStore to download the Apple Support App on a brand new iPhone 12 Pro without issues?


What your are asking, may sound ideal but isn't possible at all, because it will break any user privacy. All the information I've provided you it's on Apple website. It's impossible for Apple to know which users have or don't have hardware issues since usually affects a small percentage. Apple have listed on it's website every recognized repair program, in your case: iPhone 7 Repair Program for "No Service" Issues - Apple Support and all the channels to fix it.


Most answers here are provided by other Communities users just like you—not by Apple.

I don’t know why I can’t connect to itunes! I hope new phone has no issues with that! Can someone guide how to check possible hurdles in connecting?



Apple support App is dowloaded at my phone but it says that Apple support App is not available in your region. WHAT TO DO NOW?


Absolutely right, Apple can’t know whose phone is having issues. But I have logged my case clearly by mentioning the issue and the model number but no one told me the path to proceed further.


Thanks for sharing the Repair channel info. If that was shared by the team where I logged “mobile data update failure issue” , I would have checked that as well.

For my case: mobile data update failure,

I have scheduled call with Apple support team twice and received an email that I am not reachable and only voicemail is there. however I am reachable and don’t understand why Apple support team can reach me.


I want my cell phone (A1660) to be repaired as asoon as possible.


Apple has accepted the hardware issue in these models and accepts to repair the cell phones.


Please help to address the issue so that I can USE my cell phone again!

I have cell phone connection because I am using iPhone 12 pro now. But I am following up for iphone7 issue which had to be shut down due to mobile update failure.


I have checked and “Silence unknown caller” is turned off already.


Also if I call at the numbers the support numbers, it also disconnects after giving my cell phone number. So:


1.I can’t receive call,


2.If I make call it doesn’t get through


3. There is no email id for customers support where customers can log their issues and get support


How can I reach someone who can take up my case number : 101393512193 and help to resolve the issue.


I have been facing this issue since 6 months and quite fed up with it. It cost me new phone!

Thanks. I am doing this at my iphone 12 pro with same Apple ID


Will not use iphone 7 until the issue is resolved.


BTW, Apple should define a clear dedicated channel for those ppl who are suffering due to mobile data update failure (hardware issue) and help them get their phones repaired or resolve the issue proactively. Instead of ppl trying to find out the solution or platforms to raise their concerns and then wait for responses.


The number of such cases is limited. The consumer should be approached by Apple for resolving this issue. (Since this mobile data issue is not fault at consumer’s end).
