Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing screen
When I do a Zoom meeting from my MacBook Pro M1 and share the screen from my iPad Pro 2021, I get a buzzing sound every 30 seconds.
Any solution for that?

Hi,
I spoke to an apple technician and they suggested a workaround that lets us use a wired screenshare via zoom.
1) Open the QuickTime Player app. Under FILE, click ‘New Movie Recording’
2) When the recording window opens, click on the arrow beside the record button and select your iPad as the camera option.
3) On Zoom, click SHARE SCREEN and click on the option that says QuickTime player.
This allows you to share your iPad screen through a wired connection via cable, without the buzzing noise.
Thank you. Muting the iPad in Ecamm Live solved the big problem for me~
I am also facing the same issue… I just upgraded my iPad and MacBook to new iPad Pro 2021 with M1 chip and MacBook Pro 16” core i7, expecting it to be more efficient and it is really disheartening to hear this buzzing sound…and none of the staff members even mentioned when we bought…… I specially mentioned my use as well… and now my work is all stuck… kindly help with the apt solution for the same
Same problem here. Old iPad no problem but the new one has a loud intermittent buzz during screen share in zoom - happens every 30 ish seconds I teach and train all day so it’s not an option to keep listening to that ! What’s the fix for this ?????
Just a note that @taku's answer is not a solution—instead it's just a thorough description of the problem.
While continuing to experience this problem (with a 5th Generation iPad Pro), it's annoying to see the problem labeled as "solved."
Yes -I absolutely agree as this is NOT solved and needs to be addressed by an Apple support person. Presenting for 6 hours per day via zoom with 40-49 people - there is no time for the extra clicks and tricks or workarounds. Apple support - where are you on this ????
Thank you all for trying! I am using my iPad all week -virtual presentation and it is driving me crazy with the buzzing and the sounds of videos through zoom also. I am now using a non-wired connection so buzzing stopped however there is still a sound issue while showing the videos and this was not on my prior iPad. Using it wirelessly to share screen - the extra steps don't seem like a big deal to go from screen sharing to not screen sharing during presenting however -not so smooth for presenting and teaching. Does anyone else have ideas to get apple support attention and help ?
Same Problem here: Mac Pro 2020 with Ipad air 2021 4th gen. Get this annoying BUZZ sound while sharing Ipad via cable on zoom (and Quicktime)
Spoke to Zoom technical support which did not help at all.
Updated Zoom client, Big sur 11.5 and ipad os but nothing seems to solve the problem!
Zoom technical support told me that Apple is aware of this problem.
Seems like they deliberately ignoring the problem
Thank you so much. I know that I used my cable with the iPad gen 6 because there was lag time between voice and picture with AirPlay. The lag time isn’t there with my iPad AIr gen 4. Are there other reasons to prefer to connect by cable?
I have exactly the same problem with my new iPad pro and screen sharing on zoom. What is the buzzing noise ?Putting my macbook pro on mute hides the noise but not sure if this is the best workaround if I have to share a video.
It sounds like interference but cant be sure. Why every 30 seconds exactly?
Is the interference harming the ipad or the mac book pro?
For anyone at Apple reading this, I just want to clarify that AirPlay is not a solution to this problem. I have received the "unable to connect via AirPlay" message multiple times, and likewise had my AirPlay screen-share disconnect randomly during meetings. Connecting via a cable is less prone to disconnection, but the buzzing is intolerable. Please fix this.
I get the exact same issue. It started after updating to 14.7.1 in iPad Pro.
I tried on different computers, but I get the same issue with screen sharing in Zoom.
This is really a problem for me since ei teach classes on line.
Apple, please HELP!!!
Andrea
Absolutely the same problem. Thanks to all for posting on this. I’ve tried everything. I just want to add to the discussion and URGE whoever (Apple or Zoom or BOTH?) to PLEASE PLEASE sort this out. I must be able to screenshare using the cable. I teach digital imaging and need to do demos of tablet based software such as Procreate and Affinity. Airplay doesn’t not cut it when demoing these softwares. This is a critical issue that needs to be addressed NOW. Many folks are teaching online and this is the primary reason I had my department purchased the M1 iPAD. It’s an amazing piece of hardware, but kind of useless if I can’t teach online using it! PLEASE? FIX? NOW? Also- I’m happy to help in any way I can. I can confirm it doesn’t happen in any other softwares. JUST Zoom which I guess is a good thing in a way. I’ve tried adjusting the MIDI input utility on my M1 Desktop computer, they only thing that affects the buzzing sound is just to mute the iPAD. Which of course doesn’t work because that mutes all the audio inputs.
Hi,
I was hoping the iOS 14.8 would fix it but nothing… same thing.
I have tried sharing the iPad pro on several different computers and I get the same annoying buzz…
My older iPad Pro and older iPad Air work perfectly fine. Is there maybe something fried in the USB-C of my 2021 iPad Pro?
This is really unacceptable, we spent a lot of money on a device that at the moment I can’t use for my work.
Apple please help!
Andrea
Yes I’m using the Camlink 4K but it’s running through a 2019 iMac. I don’t have the issue of the black screen. Only the buzzing noise every 20 seconds or so. I agree that the work arounds are not a solution and Apple should fix the issue.
Hi,
this happens also when trying to record in ScreeFlow... since I use the iPad to record tutorials for my iPad online class, it makes my new iPad Pro basically a nice expensive door stopper.
Apple, please, fix this!!
BTW I am going to the Genius Bar next week and see if they exchange it or I can return it, since it is basically useless for me.
