Buzzing on Zoom Meeting while sharing screen
When I do a Zoom meeting from my MacBook Pro M1 and share the screen from my iPad Pro 2021, I get a buzzing sound every 30 seconds.
Any solution for that?

Hi,
I spoke to an apple technician and they suggested a workaround that lets us use a wired screenshare via zoom.
1) Open the QuickTime Player app. Under FILE, click ‘New Movie Recording’
2) When the recording window opens, click on the arrow beside the record button and select your iPad as the camera option.
3) On Zoom, click SHARE SCREEN and click on the option that says QuickTime player.
This allows you to share your iPad screen through a wired connection via cable, without the buzzing noise.
Roberth Jordan,
Thanks for confirming that this is the only scenario which produces this behavior. This information is vital to isolating the issue further. Next, do you only experience this buzzing sound when sharing to your iPad's screen using Zoom or do you also notice this with any other apps? If only occurring with Zoom, then once again you'll want to refer to the following link to work with Zoom support on the behavior: Zoom Help Center
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Take care!
Hi Chris_C1,
I am facing the same issue when I upgraded to iPad Pro 2021. No issues connecting older iPad (7th gen). I have been in Contact with zoom help center. They recommend I bring in my device to Genius Bar and get a technician to identify what is the hardware issue and speak with them. I believe the problem occurs only with M1 chip iPads.
My current temporary solution is to use airplay but i’d very much rather rely on a stable wired connection.
This happens when screen-sharing in Zoom (connected with a cable) and when using Quicktime (Apple's own software) and sending both the picture and audio from the ipad.
I've tried a couple of different Macbook Pros and an older ipad.
It only happens from the iPad Air 4th gen - it always has the problem no matter which computer I connect it to or how it's connected (USB-C or USB-A Macbook).
It's not a Zoom issue as it happens in Quicktime too.
I also found that the buzz isn’t there with an iPhone or when sharing by air. The good news is that the air doesn’t have the lag time between voice no picture that my gen 6 iPad had when sharing by air
I just started having this same issue as well. Using an M1 MacBook Pro and just upgraded to a 12.9” iPad Pro (5th Generation). I thought it was the iPad so returned it to the Apple store. The replacement did the exact same thing.
Previously, I was using an 11” iPad Pro (3rd Gen) on the same M1 MacBook and never had this issue.
I have the same problem. I recently bought M1 iPad Pro 12.9inch (2021) and have an M1 Mac mini (2020). This is not just a Zoom issue. I first noticed when I connected the new M1 iPad Pro to my M1 mini using Ecamm Live. First connected via CamLink 4K, during the recording, iPad screen went black every few seconds, so I thought it was CamLink 4K, switched to a USB cable. With the USB cable, the screen didn't go black, instead I get that buzzing sound. I thought it was Ecamm Live. Then I checked on Zoom for screen sharing iPad via cable, the same buzzing sound. Like others, I had an older iPad which didn't have any problem. I upgraded it to this new iPad for Zoom webinar teaching with drawing and for recording using Ecamm Live. Now I can't use iPad at all. Apple should look into this asap.
Both iPads were tested with the iPad microphone in Quicktime because that is the cause of the problem. I have picked up the replacement iPad and it too is buzzing every 30 seconds or so when mirrored in Quicktime on an iMac. For reference I have the iPad Pro, 11 inch, 3rd gen, 256 GB of memory. The appointment is booked for a 3rd visit to the Apple Store.
Same problem here with my new iPad Pro (2021). No problem with the old one (2018). It works with the new one when connecting via airplay but I'd like to use the wired connection. Strange: There is no noise when I present an empty slide in powerpoint, as soon as I switch to any other slide in starts again.
I am teaching online, spent 2000 Euro for a new iPad and now I am using my old one.
This is still a problem with using a USB-C cable from an iPad to a Mac on iOS15.
Macbook pro 16” i9 and iPad Pro 12.9 2021 M1. Facing the same issues when connected by cable. My old iPad Pro 12.9 2nd generation connected to the same MacBook has not problems at all. Air share works without issues in both iPads too, but I prefer the cable connection.
Same problem here. Just started today (June 28th).
I've been screen sharing via USB-C cable between my iPad Air and MB Air in Zoom for many months with no problem. Something changed today (possibly an auto software update?) and now I hear a loud vibration-like sound every 30 seconds when I share screen via cable over Zoom.
Airplay is not a satisfactory fix as the video quality is too poor.
Hopefully, Apple will take this problem seriously and push out an update soon.
This needs to be an apple ipad fix via update or whatever! I am not presenting and only sharing my screens through quicktime every time to stop an every 30 second buzzing sound. Apple needs to see what the real fix is on this when it only occurs on all the new ipads. Can we have an Apple support answer on this thread to fix the issue or what is being done on their end???
Screen resolution. I use my iPad to teach via zoom. All of my lectures are hand-written in OneNote and the resolution is nowhere near as good using AirPlay as it was via cable connection. Cable connection still produces a loud buzzing noise every 30 seconds making it unusable.
Apple: this problem is still not solved even with all of the latest OS and Zoom updates over the last few days.
I have the same issue - with two different computers and my iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen (2021), I just upgrade to IOS 15 and the same issue occurs. Interestingly the people on the other side do not hear it - only me. Fortunately my class I am teaching is mostly in person this semester so I am not zooming that often. Still someone needs to fix this problem.
Have you tried a CamLink 4K for the iPad in Ecamm Live? When I use a CamLink, I get the whole screen going black periodically like the buzzing sound going off when connected via a USB cable. With a USB connection, muting the iPad works, but the CamLink connection is preferred for the presentation mode, it's still not working. With this inherent problem with M1 iPad, all these workarounds are not a true solution. But I am trying to get it to work as close as possible. Thanks~
