Why does Apple Music keep pausing on iPhone?

Cedebe, this happens to me on Bluetooth as well... No physical connection.

I have found that when my audio pauses in the car (carplay) the car sees this as a voice command. The microphone icon appears on my dash, and when it goes away the audio sometimes resumes or sometimes I have to hit play

This is also happening while I use Apple Music, regardless of where my phone is. It randomly pauses or disconnects from my Solo Pro or AirPods Pro when it is just sitting on my desk at work, so there is no random input happening. These issues occur at home and at work though. Sometimes the volume will randomly turn all the way down too. My phone will also disconnect from my vehicle’s Bluetooth when I listen to Apple Music also. None of these issues occur with Spotify.

This is happening to me too. It's apparent on my main device which is a 12 Pro Max as well as some other devices I own. I also find this issue happening in the car with CarPlay. Sometimes CarPlay will straight up just crash, all since updating to 14.6.

OMG! This is soooooo annoying. I have the iPhone 12 and I use it with a blue tooth speaker while riding my motorcycle. It keeps pausing for no apparent reason. Dosen’t matter if I listen to Sirius app, Pandora or Apple Music. Definitely a bug with the iPhone as my iPhone 8 never had this problem. PLEASE HELP!

I’m experiencing the same thing with my iphone 11. I noticed that it only plays songs normally when I’m connected to wifi. Sometimes the song I tap on wouldn’t even play and the songs that do play all stop playing at exactly 0:15 seconds

I have this pausing problem also on my iPhone 12 Pro max. FW version is 14.7..1.

When I’m out cutting the yard listening to podcast with my AirPods max. The sound keeps pausing and I have to go to the phone screen to restart. The podcast is downloaded not streaming. I took the phone out of my pocket and put it on the deck of my mower so nothing touches the screen. The pausing still occurs. The pausing occurs many times while cutting the yard. It also happens while using the Audible app.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My iPhone 12 interrupts music constantly when the headphone jack (don’t have wireless earphones) takes the slightest contact or nudge. It makes this phone impossible to run with whilst listening to music. Never happened with any other iPhone model.

iPhone 8 here, running 14.8.1. The problem only appeared last week while running 14.7.1 and I've yet to find a way to get rid of it. Automatically playing, pausing, speeding up, rapidly cycling through songs... total nightmare! I had to delete the Music app in order to make a call because it was becoming so unpredictable.

I play only downloaded music on the Music app, as I don't have data for this phone (read: glorified iPod). Tried and true advice will be greatly appreciated.

The suggested fixes of turning Bluetooth off and on, rebooting the iPhone , etc. do not fix the problem. Mine is pausing every 30 secs or so and across different devices/speakers. This is an iPhone issue and I suspect it’s related to a recent software update. I hope the engineers address it promptly. Playing music right now is too irritating.

I disagree with Erica. This can happen even without contact. I can have the music app open and holding my phone in my hand and it will pause randomly. This is not a touch issue, but a software issue. Apple is too lazy to change it so they are trying to cover it up.

Yea you are right… once you have data or connected via WiFi it works… downloaded music it keeping pausing after 15 secs…. They need to fix this….

I just tried something that seems to have worked and I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else has the same results. I started playing Apple Music directly from my iPhone 12, then switched over to Bluetooth while it was playing and I'm not experiencing the drops.

I noticed my music pausing randomly using Apple Music with my HomePods or if I use my iPhone connected to my HomePods as well. I click play and immediately after it’ll pause. Sometimes it will go minutes at a time sometimes days but it keeps happening and it’s very annoying.

I am having the same issue with my iPod Touch. When listening to Apple Music it randomly pauses, sometimes for a second but other times up to 30 seconds. The frequency of the pauses is also highly variable, ranging from several times per song to once every few songs. I have updated to IOS 15.1 and that has not helped at all. Also deleted and redownloaded the app, again with no success.

Has anyone actually solved this issue?

I still have the issue with Apple Music and Amazon Prime Music. I have tried every proposed solution I could find on line and have had zero success. This issue has made my iPod Touch basically worthless since the only reason I bought it was to listen to music. I agree, it has to be an IOS bug.
