Apple music stops playing music after 15 seconds.

After a new software update, apple music began to lag. Songs from the library that I downloaded to downloads to listen to offline do not play completely. The problem is that when I listen to downloaded music without the Internet, it plays no more than 15 seconds. Then it stops. For this month I have not yet used the application normally ... I tried to delete all downloads and install again but it doesn’t work.

Hello,

I had a similar issue (iPhone 12 pro, iOS 14.6) and this is how i solved it:

open settings

click on your picture/name on the top to open your apple ID

click on Media and Purchases.

click on sign out (Heads up: this will sign you out from media services such as apple music, news, etc. and also will delete all the already downloaded music)

sign back in with your apple ID

restart your phone

Head to apple music, and re-download the songs you wanted.

My lossless songs would only play for 15 seconds in offline mode, after this it was fixed.

hope this helps,

Bests

Yesterday I tried it again with Apple Music lossless songs and also on 14.7 they stopped after 15 seconds like before.

So Apple didn't change a Bit.

Guess it's an DRM problem, Apple or the Music Industrie don't like that we listen offline to lossless songs ...

It works if mobile data for Music is on.

Hey guys, i might have a solution.

whenever you are free, test what songs dont seem to play all the way. If you know its your whole library, then you dont need to test.

try listening to each song past 15 seconds and then test it offline. See if that works. Im guessing each song needs to be “played into the system” for it to work… not sure tho, anyone else have imput?

Report to apple.com/feedback under Services - Music as I‘ve done before I started discussion here. The more people report the more Apple can recognize that we are talking about a common bug. Pressure to fix should be high.

I‘m not prepared to test software as a customer that I pay for. That‘s the job of software quality at Apple before they release. I don‘t want to reset my iphone anytime beta software is released too soon. It‘s the job of Apple do release only working apps instead of wasting customers lifetime!

Please Apple help me to believe in your product quality. Slowly the opposite is happening.

I have followed the solution provided by Apple Support, ie, logout & login again, turn off the dolby & lossless music, wait for a few minutes & then opt for dolby & lossless music again, and re-download the songs.

After the download, I have fully checked all songs function properly either under cellular or wifi. However, the downloaded songs stop at 15 seconds again on next day.

Yes, same for me on iPhone12, iOS 14.6.

It's since going lossless and the Spatial Audio update.

Random songs stop playing, sometimes I get a 'scramble' sound as if the playhead is skipping through the track.

When this happens you lose all control and have to quit the app.

SOmetimes it will do it on a particular track, if it's something in my library. Removing it and re-adding -- or just streaming from Apple Music -- often fixes this particular phenomenon, but then it'll strike somewhere else randomly, as above.

Have to say I haven't tried with Lossless turned off. Might try that now.

Shame.

I have the same problem - extremely frustrating and obnoxious, by the way - and just like most if not all people with this problem, it seems to have settled in Apple Music shortly after the 14.6 update. I'm very disappointed, but I can still listen to songs I downloaded before 14.6, which is strange. The first time I noticed this bug, I had just enabled downloading songs in large ALAC files (uncompressed quality), so at first I thought that was the cause. So I disabled it - to no avail. Then my next attempt to solve the problem was to reset the audio quality of the download to AAC 256 kbit/second (standard default quality), and then re-download my music. Again, this was unsuccessful, as my music still stopped at 15 seconds. However, I had noticed another strange thing: I was saving my personal songs on my iMac, which had the same iCloud account as on my phone, which allowed me to then download and listen to my own songs in my library on my iPhone (7).After noticing the bug that stopped playing songs at 15 seconds without Wi-fi, I realized that I could listen to my personal songs at all times, while the titles were grayed out, meaning they weren't even downloaded (provided I had recently added them to my iCloud library on the iMac, otherwise they weren't all working)... while the other downloaded songs just weren't working. The situation remained the same, allowing me to listen to my own songs and songs downloaded before 14.6 without Wi-fi, but not those downloaded after the problematic update.

I imagine - and I'm not the only one with this speculation/theory - that Apple has received many complaints and grievances about this nasty bug, but that they have no solution to give, since this bug simply doesn't fix itself. All I hope is that the next update fixes this problem for good, and if so, that it arrives soon ;).
