Apple music stops playing music after 15 seconds.

After a new software update, apple music began to lag. Songs from the library that I downloaded to downloads to listen to offline do not play completely. The problem is that when I listen to downloaded music without the Internet, it plays no more than 15 seconds. Then it stops. For this month I have not yet used the application normally ... I tried to delete all downloads and install again but it doesn’t work.

Seeing that this got reported about 500 times before, it's probably on Apple's end, dont you think? Can you let them know?

I had to call 3 times with apple support, and still got this problem...

==> My conclusion: It's a bug.

It's really annoying me and I'm concidering subscribing to spotify, as are a lot of other Applemusic subscribers.

I didn't try on cellular, its only on downloaded content, it happens with headphones (beats solo pro) and I'm on 14.6

I have followed the solution provided by Apple Support, ie, logout & login again, turn off the dolby & lossless music, wait for a few minutes & then opt for dolby & lossless music again, and re-download the songs.

After the download, I have fully checked all songs function properly either under cellular or wifi. However, the downloaded songs stop at 15 seconds again on next day.

I have deleted the library and Redownloaded everything (12 times now)

I have deleted the music app and reinstalled

I have turned of lossless (and deleted and redownloaded the music again)

I have turned off dolby atmos and deleted and redownloded the music again)

I have reset my phone. I’ve had enough I cannot hear more than 15 seconds of music when I have no cellular for anything downloaded and it seem to need to authorise every song

Apple Music has a huge fault.  I’m almost done with it.

Am having same issue with my Apple music since lossless & atmos added to service! At first I was so excited about experiencing this upgrade however found it too disappointing!

Does this happen on both Wi-FI and cellular data?

No, It happens when I’m offline & I pay apple to let me listen them offline

Does the issue occur with both downloaded and streaming content?

Downloaded content

Does it happen both with and without headphones?

Yes & also in the car through bluetooth & apple car play

Which model of device and iOS version is this happening with?

iPhone 11 Pro Max ios

A general issue is that the Apple Music streaming library (including lossless songs, downloaded or not) on your iOS device is separate from the library incorporating songs that you own, i.e., purchased songs (using iTunes) and matched music (e.g., ripped from a CD. Your Music App presents all this in a seamless manner.

Bottom line: BEFORE adding (and downloading) a lossless song you MUST delete the corresponding item from your library of owned music. Otherwise the conflict between the two database may manifest itself as, e.g., crashes or freezing.

Someone else may have mentioned this, but I just saw on another site that it seems to be a problem with the Lossless feature and that unchecking Lossless in playback preferences takes care of it. I had been having the same problem on my MacBook Air. I started noticing that a bunch of things in my Music library had changed from downloaded to streaming, and the latter were all stopping after 14 seconds. I tried unchecking Lossless and it worked. A shame because we all want lossless quality when possible, right? But for now it seems to be a solution to the tracks stopping.

Yesterday….

Turned off Dolby atmos

Turned off lossless

Deleted everything

Redownloaded the songs with everything off

IT WORKED until today

Now everything stops after 15 second again.

Absolutely hopeless.

We definitely understand your disappointment with the issue at hand. Thank you again for performing those troubleshooting steps and letting us know how it went. We’ve heard reports of the issue you're describing, and it’s currently being investigated. We don’t have a workaround available at the moment. Please keep an eye out for future software updates. Let us know if we can be of help for anything else!

Looks like the DRM on the Lossless files is stopping all offline playback. I found this infuriating for the last week, as I took the kids on a camp trip and relied on my iPhone with all my downloaded music to cover me for the week (no connectivity at all where we were).

No such luck. :(

All the Lossless Audio files stopped at 15 seconds, and caused the Music App to lock up. All of the non-Lossless Audio Files worked fine. Pretty crap at the moment, and any time where you want to take music with you (like on a plane, camp trip, etc) when you have no internet at all ... Apple Music is all but useless.

Really frustrating that in this day and age, simple things like this get missed by Apple. Was there any testing with the new formats for offline use? Doesn't seem so ...

Hello it took me sometime but I figured it out so I deleted all my music go to settings music downloaded music press edit on top left and delete all songs then go back to music in settings turn off the Dolby atmos and go to audio quality and set it to high quality and don’t choose the one with lossless it doesn’t work it worked with me

Yes, same for me on iPhone12, iOS 14.6.

It's since going lossless and the Spatial Audio update.

Random songs stop playing, sometimes I get a 'scramble' sound as if the playhead is skipping through the track.

When this happens you lose all control and have to quit the app.

SOmetimes it will do it on a particular track, if it's something in my library. Removing it and re-adding -- or just streaming from Apple Music -- often fixes this particular phenomenon, but then it'll strike somewhere else randomly, as above.

Have to say I haven't tried with Lossless turned off. Might try that now.

Shame.

Someone wrote this is drm related. He was probably right. I have a working solution for the iPhone. Go to settings. Go in settings to Mobile network, enable Mobile data. Then go in settings to Music. Enable again mobile data. You can go back to Mobile network in settings and disable mobile data. Mobile data will still be enabled in music. Apple Music can now check your 'drm-rights'.

What happens now, when playing music. Will the app music stream my music or play the downloaded music. You can test this yourself. Enable in audioquality high efficiency for mobiel streamen. When playing my downloaded music it was lossless music and was not streaming the music.

This is a workaround. A better solution is the Spotify approach. At certain intervals you have to make contact with Spotify online to be able to play your offline music. Apple Music seems to check this almost every song.

Apple music stops playing music after 15 seconds.
