this worked for me!

If you’re having issues connecting your Apple TV to an Apple device using the AirPlay app, follow these steps to resolve the problem:

  1. Press the HELP button on the supplied TV remote.
  2. Go to Status & Diagnostics, choose Privacy Settings, and then press the OK button.
  3. Select the Agree to all option at the bottom of the Privacy Policy screen, if you agree, and then scroll down to the very last page. Then choose Yes or I accept at least with respect to Sony Smart TV services if you want.

Hi,

I am having the same issue and I have tried all the mentioned solutions on this forum, yet my apple tv app , apple airplay and homekit are not getting configured or signed in. I spoke to Sony and they asked me to clear apple tv app data, update the tv software and agree to all in the privacy policy and yet nothing worked. I called up apple and spoke to CCR and we went through all the mentioned steps in the forum and yet it the issue persists. Now the representative has asked me time so that this issue can be discussed with his team and a solution can be reached to.

If anyone else has done something differently and has managed to overcome this irritating issue, please help me out. Thank you.

Hi Iphonermh12 and others,

Did you found any solution for this? I have the exact same problem, none of the Apple stuff works with A80J (airplay, homekit and apple tv app). Yesterday did a factory settings reset and allowed all data gathering and allowed all the privacy setting options, but no luck with Apple. Everything else works just fine, all the other apps and Google Cast etc.

Ok, so I am in continuous contact with the apple team with no solution until like 5 minutes ago I went into the tv settings-apps-apple tv-clear data, and it worked.

Now I have tried this like hundred times before but it never worked. The apple advisor and me went through a plethora of troubleshooting with no luck. A call is still scheduled for tomorrow, however, on an impulse I just tried clearing the data again and it worked. I don’t know if apple did something from the back end or the app just decided have mercy on me, but its working now.

Still having this issue, have contacted both Sony and Apple. No help from either one. At least Apple support was quite friendly, but they could not offer any solution. Sony just pointed to Apple.

Apple TV does not show the login screen at all - just the default Apple loading symbol running forever. Airplay shows the pin on the tv, but iPhone/iPad/Mac all just say that pin is wrong. HomeKit also just says that the code is wrong when scanning the QR code from the TV.

I have all the possible tricks, caches cleared, privacy policy set as instructed, even done the factory reset couple of times.

Is anyone successfully using the Sony Bravia and the Apple TV/Airplay together with Google WIFI (mesh wifi)?

I tried each of the steps outlined here with no success. I also did all of them after a full factory reset. I even tried only installing Apple TV (none of the other apps I use) by itself to see if there was an app conflict. I tried removing updates and installing Apple TV 2.2, same error. I think the clue is in the Airplay errors, none of the 4 digit codes match. Something is scrambling verification handshakes. Two hours with Sony, they blame Apple. After an hour with Apple, they simple say "Sony Bravia XR55A90J" is not on our compatible TV list. Really frustrating.

Hello, I was also having this issue on my new Sony Bravia 55” 4K UHD HDR TV.

One solution I have found for android-based tv’s is to go to Settings > System > Restart, and proceed to restart “not reset” your television. After restarting, relaunch the Apple TV app and try to login on your phone using the link provided on-screen.

If the first solution fails to work, go to Settings > Apps > Apple TV “It may be listed under see all apps” > Force Stop > Clear Data. After that, proceed to follow the above steps on restarting your device.

Other Solutions:

Make sure your firmware/software is up-to-date.

Try to perform an app update for the Apple TV app.

Try repeating the restart device steps multiple times and/or waiting 5 minutes before launching Apple TV after the restart.

Hope this was helpful, it’s my first post to the apple community!

Cheers!

Almost after 1,5 months after purchase - the Apple stuff just started to work without any tricks, Apple TV, Airplay and HomeKit. I had set the privacy correctly the day 2 after purchase and had done factory reset several times during December with no luck. After new years, Apple stuff still refused to work. Now yesterday, opened the TV - launched Apple TV and everything worked as it should.

I have an open support case with both Apple and Sony started few weeks ago - Apple even reached back to have me test and record the failure after Christmas - no word since. Sony only took the info I provided but never came back. Not sure whether any of them had done something or what resolved this.

I think someone has done something. I have been trying these same steps every day since my post on the 14th day. Today it mysteriously worked. Exact sequence:

1) turn off router

2) turn on TV

3) force stop and clear AppleTV app data from TV

4) connect to 5G shared from phone

5) log in without any problems

6) turn on the router and remove the 5G, still OK

Thanks to Sony and Apple support, whatever was changed, it solved the issue!

I have the same TV and FINALLY got it to work. I think the initial issue was that when I set up the TV I didn't check Sony Smart TV Services in the Privacy Settings. Even after selecting it later, it still wouldn't work. I tried just about everything in this thread and didn't have any luck. What did work for me was to go to the Apple TV app settings, clear the data, disable the app. Select the app and select uninstall. Go to the privacy settings and uncheck the Sony Smart TV Services along with the other options. Then select them back and Agree. Install the app. Log in with the phone option and use the QR code.
