Apple TV keeps saying verification failed on new Sony Bravia
Trying to log on my new Sony Bravia TVs into Apple TV app but keeps saying verification failed.
Trying to log on my new Sony Bravia TVs into Apple TV app but keeps saying verification failed.
ypu Need to go into the Sony menu - not Apple TV+ - and delete the data. The Sony TV was sending my old Apple TV+ account credentials in and I couldn’t even get to a new login page. Once I cleared the data in the Sony TV settings it all worked fine
After spending hours over hours trying to solve it, going through endless suggested solutions which none of them worked, the solution finally came in a very unexpected way.
yes. It has something to do with the security permissions, but not through the TV setup (or at least I didn’t find how to get to it from there).
This is what worked for me - just connect your iPhone to the TV using AirPlay. Once you’ll do that you’ll be asked to approve some privacy screen. Go ahead and approve it (need to scroll down, confirm and then push proceed) and that’s it!
now you can disconnect the AirPlay, open the Apple TV app and you’ll see it gives you now an option to connect to your account using QR code (not presented previously). I used the QR code and connected immediately. You can also login by typing your user and password,
i’m with a new Bravia X85k, from Dec 2022, but I believe this should work with other Sony models too.
Hope that helps and work for others too.
I had the same issue,
Just turn on location services on your Sony Bravia in settings.
Its an inherent security feature in Apple to make sure that your location and Wi-Fi network match.
Ok, so I am in continuous contact with the apple team with no solution until like 5 minutes ago I went into the tv settings-apps-apple tv-clear data, and it worked.
Now I have tried this like hundred times before but it never worked. The apple advisor and me went through a plethora of troubleshooting with no luck. A call is still scheduled for tomorrow, however, on an impulse I just tried clearing the data again and it worked. I don’t know if apple did something from the back end or the app just decided have mercy on me, but its working now.
I tried everything. What worked was the privacy settings. You have to accept all areas. Once you do this you can sign in. Once signed in you can go back to the privacy settings and remove any access you are not comfortable with.
If anyone is still having this problem, the solution is actually quite simple. Update your TV’s system software. This will solve all your problems. After the update, you will be able to login with a QR code.
Settings > Help & Feedback > Help > Status & Diagnostics > System Software Update
Had the same problem with my new Sony TV. This is what worked for me
Cleared the storage, deleted the app, unplugged the tv for 60 seconds. Plugged in TV and was able to sign in without any problems!
I found an easier way. Launch the app and don't sign in. Then go in to the settings and select settings --> Accounts
The system will present you with a QR code. Scan the code with your iPad or iPhone
Instead of clicking sign in, click continue without signing in. Then while in the app go to settings, then I believe I had to go to see subscriptions to get a QR code and login through apple website.
Helpful hint - when I unplugged the ethernet cable and used WiFi, the app verifies just fine…
I had the same issue. The following worked. Accept Sony privacy terms.

I was prompted to do a Sony system update. After completed, TV shut off, restarted the Apple App now works.
Same for me .... tried many things above. Then I held down the power button on the remote...... restarted the tv & the Apple App gave me a scan code for the first time. In like Flynn!
Found a potential fix for this:
Clear Cache, clear data in the settings app section
Then connect the TV to mobile hotspot
Then open the Apple TV app and it should work
This worked for me, Sony support advised me to try this as a troubleshooting step
Thank you! It was a little different solution for me… I initially didn’t accept all the permissions. When I started set up again, I accepted all permissions and it worked. Don’t remember, but location may have been one of them.
Same. Cleared Apple data from within settings and then it worked.
