How to update AirTag Location

Hi, in my opinion it will only update its location using the network of all other Apple devices, when you mark it as LOST. Then it will be telling you regularly, where it is.

My AirTag used to update to my daughters iPhone 11 no problem. Now she has a new iPhone 11 and it only updates around mine.

My AirTag used to show periodic updates across town, but now with ios15 it only updates the map on my iPhone at home. On the Mac is does update while it’s away so it’s the phone. WTF?

Why don’t you guys read the entire thread. It’s already been explained multiple times how the AirTag works. Or are you guys here just to vent? Seriously.

That would not be a recommended use, especially not in an area that is not populated. AirTags are not real-time trackers nor are they gps trackers.

From the comments on here, they arent suppose to work. Just look really cool. And dont forget to update them or reboot them on every IOS update or they wont work I guess.

apple need to do better job on this issues I bought two for the same reason theft protection and worthless. If they stole my items Apple should be held accountable.

I have the same issue, but only difference is it worked before, now it just stop working like what you described. Have tried everything. Don't know why to make it work again.

They don't want to hear that. They want to come here and vent. That's what this forum is for.

So frustrating... I put one in my company car (all our ee's are provided iPhones - so I know it is within 3 feet of an iPhone) and the location will not update.
