mystery notification sound

(Originally posted in the Tiger 10.4 forum but I'm running Big Sur 11.4.)

I have an alert sound that goes off once in a while, but there is no associated popup banner so I have no idea what's causing this notification. Going through the system sound effects it doesn't sound like any of the ones listed. So I'm at a loss to determine what caused it.

I've gone through my Notifications settings and turned off a bunch I don't care about, and turned off sounds on most of the rest. I'm hoping this solves it and the mystery sound doesn't repeat. But if it does, how I can I find out what process caused it?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.4

Hi brbo,

Yep, it's still happening. I later turned off several extensions in Chrome, in case they were the culprits, but it doesn't necessarily happen every day so it'll be a while before I know for sure that solved it.

Please note, this is happening on a MBP running Big Sur. So while I appreciate the help, the links to the iPhone articles don't seem relevant.
