Keyboard and mouse cursor frozen at login screen - No Safe Mode possible!

Hello,

When I power on my Macbook Pro, the login screen appears with 3 user login windows and tab to enter password. However I am unable to enter password or move the cursor (it is stuck at top left corner). I tried shutting it down and trying to turn it on in Safe Mode but it doesn't start in Safe Mode too! I am able to turn it off by pressing power key for 5 seconds. But when I turn it on again it is stuck at the same login info page with cursor on top left corner. I also tried resetting NVRAM and SMC as per the instructions on the forum. But nothing changed.

Also the keyboard backlit is always on when it is at the login screen. The caps on and off key doesn't work too.

Kindly help.

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

Hey Nish_Ethan,

Thanks for posting your question in Apple Support Communities.

From the information you have provided in your post it seems as though you may be experiencing some hardware issues with your Mac. You have already done some excellent steps such as reseting your SMC and NVRAM as well as testing the caps lock key for a response. At this point in order to resolve your issue it may be best to explore some service options in order to have diagnostics run on the hardware of your Mac.

You can set up service options by following this link: Mac service and repair.

Best Wishes.
