Apple Pay Help

Apple Pay from a debit card

I tried for the first time yesterday to use Apple Pay. on my iPhone 12. It wouldn't got through three times on my debit card but went through right away with the credit card. The store owner says that because I have multiple bank accounts attached to the debit card that this is why it wouldn't work. Is this true and if so how do is select a default account for the card. Ive looked for this till I was dizzy. Any help one way or the other please and thanks

As far as a POS terminal is concerned, it's only one. You may see multiple accounts tied to your debit card, say at an ATM. But, when shopping, you are not asked which account you would like to use, it just uses one. Again, it's best to check with your bank. especially if you were able to add the card to your wallet.
