Battery drain in iOS 14.7.1

Hi,

Battery drain is happening after updated to iOS 14.7, the percent is jumping from 77% to 71% without almost any use, I am using the iPhone 11 Pro normal and my battery health is still on 100%.

Is anyone experiencing this too?

The solutions don’t provide a lasting or consistent fix. I reset my network settings and the improvement lasted a day or two. I did a backup and restore and again the improvement lasted a day. I closed all my open tabs in Safari and this seems to have fixed the problem most of the time, but I still get random days where the battery drains to 50% from full charge within 2-3 hours when idle.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro. Battery health was 96% before updating to 14.7.1, after the update it dropped to 86%. The phone hasn’t been jailbroken or had any modifications made to it.

I work in IT and know what I’m doing when it comes to isolating an issue. I’ve been back and forth with this problem and I still don’t have an explanation other than a fix being rushed out to fix a security flaw without proper testing. Sometimes that is fair enough and the security issue warrants a fix that causes other problems. It would be nice if Apple acknowledged this in some ways if it was the case though…..

Same for me on an iPhone 6s! This was after an online chat with Apple Support where the person recommended I upgrade to 14.7.1. The battery percentage now goes into freefall.

Probably the worst thing is I use my 6s with a VR 360° camera which attaches to the phone.

I’d really like to be able to downgrade the iOS and have been looking for ways to do this.

I’m not impressed because Apple Support recommended going to 14.7.1 :(

Yea I agree the constant posts disparaging that this is an issue with the update.

It is happening to me on my iPhone 11 and iPad Pro 3rd gen, my wife's iPhone X, my Mom's iPhone X, her mom's iPhone X, my sister in laws iPhone X.

I have tried resetting network preferences, I have tried restoring, and neither did a thing. I have most of my apps background updates turned off.

I get that update might be more accurate on the battery life, but this is battery drain, and is happening at very high rates compared to before the recent updates.

I have lost way too much battery health here 😞, apple shouldn’t be treating their customers like this and making us constantly buy new products because we don’t have unlimited money and plus performance and cellular connection issues are plagued on my iPhone, they need to fix this ASAP , this is very disappointing and isn’t worth its money if this is all they do 😠😭

The battery drain problem on iOS/iPad OS14.7.1 is real.

With earlier versions of iOS/iPad OS, my iPad was easily holding for a week with a moderate use. Now it’s giving up within 2 days!

Strangely, my iPhone 11 Pro’s battery health dropped from 99% to 93% in just 1 month. I’m sure, the culprit is 14.7.1 and it’s stability.

Who knows what normal idle battery drain should be? For example, I have 8% battery drain overnight (8-9 hours). Is it ok? I had this percentage starting from 14.6 to 14.7.1

and it doesn’t matter on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, etc

my device iPhone XS Max (100% battery health, I bought new device last month)

I tried reset settings, network settings: no changes (but did not try reset+erase)

p.s. have no any problems on iPad 2017 (14.7.1)

I've also noticed increased drain since iOS 14.7.1. I have a first generation SE; yes an old phone, but with a relatively new battery still at 100% health. 14.7 seemed normal drain, but 14.7.1 sees it drain fast with it just sat idle. It seems better sometimes when my Apple Watch is turned off, so I'm wondering if it's an interaction of the two.

For those of you noticing higher drain since 14.7.1, do you also have Apple Watches, and does yours improve if you turn the Watch off too?

My wife has an iPhone SE that’s about a year old, and I have a 6s. Both of our phones are experiencing SIGNIFICANT AND RAPID BATTERY DRAIN after the “upgrade” to 14.7.1.

My 6s had a battery replacement before the pandemic started, the replacement was done in our local Apple store, and it was doing fine until this update. Now I see it start in the AM with 100% charge, then it drops to 10% within 3-4 hours! I’ve tried all the suggestions, including resetting network settings, without any improvement. Very disappointed in the update...
