Unbearable stuttering when watching Apple TV+

My issue is that when closed captions are on, the picture stutters when closed captions open to a different area of the screen. I have perfect net connection, both wireless and wired and this occurs no what app is being used with Apple's TV.

Using Apple App or any other App on my new LG OLED works flawlessly with or without closed captions. Clearly an Apple TV issue.

When I say "perfect net connection" latency is 1.4 milliseconds with 300/300 up and down with dedicated microwave connection.

Hi by chance are you using a roku and does your tv have a sound bar connected?If so the fix I had was to stop watching Apple TV through roku. It sucks! That was the only way I could get the skipping to stop. All of my other applications work fine through roku but Apple TV tied to a sound bar hates it for whatever reason.

I have this problem too. Just about anything I try fixes it for several minutes. Then it just goes back to stuttering along. Only Apple TV + service. Other services stream crystal clear up to 4K.

Yes, verified it is degraded on both 802.11AC wifi and on Ethernet. Unrelated to network.

You mentioned other apps as well as other devices, so I covered both in my response.

I have used Apple TV plus extensively without issue and have not seen any widespread reporting. Is the issue occurring at specific times?

That would be a good next step. If it still persists then it may be best to contact Apple support so you can have a real-time dialogue and run through some more specific measures to narrow things down further. Best of luck.

Same issue. Never had this problem before, started in late August 2021. Shuttering only occurs with AppleTV programs, everything else plays fine. Download speed tests consistently at 75 mbps. I'm using an Airport extreme connected to cable providers router via Ethernet cable.

I have tried other suggested fixes like updating to OS 15 and rebooting my Airport Extreme router; these fixes were only temporary so they were not the issue. My internet speed is consistently around 75-80mbs and i'm connected ISP's modem to AppleTV box by ethernet cable; it's not network speed.

Something changed in mid-August, I came back from holiday and this started happening. I never had this problem before, used same setup for years including with older AppleTV's. Have been using a 1st gen 4K AppleTV since last December, always worked fine until recently. It's interesting that this only occurs with Apple TV+ programs, no where else with any other app.

I think maybe it's a slow down on the AppleTV server, not the TV box OR the inability of the box to decode the latest AppleTV program compression? Does anyone know if Apple has changed the format or compression of their video format? Does anyone know if this is happening on the latest generation 4K AppleTV ?

Sounds way too familiar. Consistent 400+ Mbps internet service with ethernet connection. No problem streaming Netflix or Amazon Prime.

However couldn't even finish a TV+ episode of "For All Mankind" due to buffering and degraded picture quality.

Me too. Same thing. Only app on my Roku that doesn’t work half the time. Video gets stuck. Voice is all jibbery. Screen goes black. Flicks back on. Flickers off. It’s so annoying. Why is Apple the worst broadcast compared to my perfect other 40 streaming apps? Netflix, Hulu, etc… are perfect.

It would be interesting to know if this is happening more in any particular geographic location and when it started. I'm on the West coast of Canada (Vancouver) and this problem started for me in mid to late August. I tried all the above suggestions and nothing worked. Then the issue stopped sometime in early October and it's not happened since, knock on wood!

My tv isn’t hooked up to anything. Just the wall outlet and wifi. It’s a Roku and I have Netflix, Hulu, etc all kinds of channels on only wifi. Everything Works great. I bought an Apple phone and received one free year of Apple plus. That’s the only reason I have Apple plus. And it’s never worked right. Stuttering, delay video, all crackled up. Once my year is up I will not buy their channel. Free Is bad enough.

Same here. have no problem with another streaming service only buffering on apple tv plus application and it's unwatchable.

My internet test result was 950 Mbps over cat8 ethernet cable there is no way this is not enough. It's even has the same buffering issue on HD content.
