Unbearable stuttering when watching Apple TV+

Trying to watch e.g. Ted Lasso I get constant buffering on my Apple TV - unwatchable. I was able to get around this for a time by casting my iPad to the Apple TV. Then that started having a similar problem. Solved that by downloading an episode to iPad and casting to Apple TV. Today that quit working. Cannot dowNload any Apple TV+ content to my iPad.

every other app on my Apple TV works fine - Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, MLB, ETC. Apple TV+ is the problem. My internet connection is fine and all other devices in the house work fine. Any ideas?

AppleTV+ app is definitely a problem. In fact I can watch most of Ted Lasso with only occasional buffering but The Morning Show is impossible to watch. Both on AppleTV+

I might need to drop the service

I am having the same issues. I have an extremely stable 230 Mbps connection and have zero issues with any other streaming services, nor streaming 60mbps video files on my local network.

Apple TV+ content is the only content we watch that doesn’t sit at the highest quality the whole time. Ted lasso, morning wars and foundation all fluctuate between about 720p, 1080p and short bursts to 4K.

Trying the same content through the Apple TV + apps on my PS5 and LG TV have the same results. I’m convinced it’s a server issue.

As others have said, it's got to be Apple's server. It would be interesting to take a poll on geographic regions and see if this problem is trending more in certain areas. Some good news; my issues with the buffering seem to have cleared up now for about the last month and don't happen any more. Back to normal with no intervention on my part other than updating to the latest AppeTV OS which at the time, had no effect.

I find it funny that all the apple responses always point to it not being an Apple problem.

I work in the AV industry and I've heard this response before form Manufacturers, it's always someone elses issue or it's the "firs time" they've heard of it. We employee IT professionals at our shop & every one of our people can second the issue as stated by the gent who started having issues in August, Almost Always Apple content exclusively, any device any of us have be they Roku or Apple. (all other services streaming HDR at similar rates as Apple have no issues )

None of us have less than 100mbs, all have current hi-end gear and to a person the same issue.

I might add multiple households, usually one connection running at a time, all are hard wired.

"Finch" last night was a painful experience, but not as bad as usual.

It would be interesting to know if this is happening more in any particular geographic location and when it started. I'm on the West coast of Canada (Vancouver) and this problem started for me in mid to late August. I tried all the above suggestions and nothing worked. Then the issue stopped sometime in early October and it's not happened since, knock on wood!

My tv isn’t hooked up to anything. Just the wall outlet and wifi. It’s a Roku and I have Netflix, Hulu, etc all kinds of channels on only wifi. Everything Works great. I bought an Apple phone and received one free year of Apple plus. That’s the only reason I have Apple plus. And it’s never worked right. Stuttering, delay video, all crackled up. Once my year is up I will not buy their channel. Free Is bad enough.

My issue is that when closed captions are on, the picture stutters when closed captions open to a different area of the screen. I have perfect net connection, both wireless and wired and this occurs no what app is being used with Apple's TV.

Using Apple App or any other App on my new LG OLED works flawlessly with or without closed captions. Clearly an Apple TV issue.

When I say "perfect net connection" latency is 1.4 milliseconds with 300/300 up and down with dedicated microwave connection.

I signed up for Apple TV today. The first thing I tried to watch stuttered every 10 seconds or so. I tried a second show with the same result.

Internet speed is 200+mb. Wifi transmitter is 10 feet from the 4K UHD tv.

I switched over to Netflix and everything is fine. Ditto Amazon Prime, HBO MAX, Criterian Channel.

Apple TV has an ongoing problem as evidenced by the hyndreds of complaints in this thread.

I'll try again over the next several days. If it persists I'll cancel.

Hi by chance are you using a roku and does your tv have a sound bar connected? If so the fix I had was to stop watching Apple TV through roku. It sucks! That was the only way I could get the skipping to stop. All of my other applications work fine through roku but Apple TV tied to a sound bar hates it for whatever reason.

Lol I completely agree but as you can see from the countless complaints they don’t care. Just thought I’d share what was for me a simple solution to be able to watch the application if you really wanted to. If I had to chose between Keeping my tv and sound bar or keeping roku I much rather just keep my tv and sound bar and toss the 40.00 roku. I mean the other solution is to say forget apple all together and just use your money on another application. You know stick it to the man lol.
