Hi everyone,
I have Final Cut Pro X 10.4.10 and installed the Canon Raw Light plugin version 2.3
Restarted the computer
Final Cut won't let me import the files, it has a greyed out circle with line through it, if i try to drag the .crm files onto the timeline.
They were shot on my Canon R5 as 8k c-log3 Canon Raw Light files.
I checked and I can open them in Premier but I prefer to use FCPX. Any ideas anyone?

As Tom said, when doing an OS upgrade (not a point release update) it's best to do a clean wipe and only migrate Users from a backup, then download and reinstall apps from the developer. It can be painful, but doing the upgrade in place might be the cause of the strange issues you're seeing.
You could try deleting the plugin, moving FCP to the trash (don't empty it), then logging into the AppStore and re-downloading FCP. See if it launches properly, and if so, try installing the Canon plugin again.
If that still doesn't work, post an EtreCheck report https://etrecheck.com giving the application full disk access from System Preferences. When it finishes the scan, click Share Report, and when it's done click Copy Report. Then paste into the Additional text box here in your reply.
It appears to be a perfectly legitimate temporary file.
Not sure what you mean by manually backup. You can only do a proper user migration in a clean install from a drive that uses Time Machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, or similar application.
ah i mean I dont use time machine - i just back up my files every now and then.
Don’t try and migrate like that. It’s difficult to do as you can’t use setup during installation or Migration Assistant afterward. You’d have to manually move files into place.

The installer annoyingly doesn't have an uninstaller. But it says this in the read me - see image attached. The problem is is that there isn't a 'plugins' folder in the 'pro apps' folder.
Also, sorry to be a baby, set up a new admin user of my OS?
Ok so I upgraded my OS from Mojave to Big Sur, and upgraded to FCP X 10.5.4 and the CRM files still cant be brought into a FCPX timeline. I tried to install the Canon Raw 2.3 plugin, but it says already installed.
Hmmm, why doesn't it work?
I'd try Tom's suggestion first since they're both quick and easy. To trash prefs, hold command and option while launching FCP. Choose Delete Preferences. It will open up the default, empty library. Open the one you were working on to see if the behavior changed.
I don't use Canon footage so you'd need to go to Canon's site for uninstall instructions. Hopefully their installer also has an uninstaller?
Ok, i tried a new admin user and its the same behaviour.
So need to find a way to uninstall the canon raw plugin. There isn't a folder path as described by the screen shot from the installer PDF. There is no 'plugin' folder

You need a later version of FCP I think. I couldn’t get it to import with 10.4.10 on any OS.
Try trashing your preferences. Test in a new admin user. I don't have any R6 8K, but other CRM files from R5 and other Canons that work with the plug-in in 10.5.4.
After doing that big of an OS jump, I'd also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Canon plugin.

As Terry said it’s a big jump between OSs. Did you do a clean wipe and install of the OS migrating users? It’s always a good idea when moving to a new OS.
Hold Opt-Cmd as you launch FCP.
Create a new admin user in Users System Preferences.
