Volume lights of homepod flashing

I arrived at home after the weekend and I found the HomePod (first edition) with the volume lights flashing/blinking. I called Apple support and tried to reset it. Unplug, hold my finger over it and wait. But again the blinking volume lights. Then, the support agent suggested me to go to a service center. I went to my nearest Apple store and the genius told me that it was the first time that they had seen that, and no solution from their side. I’m very angry, because no explanation, no reason and no solution from Apple side. How can I fix it? Any idea?

It happened for me last night. I have a pair and set to default as Apple TV speaker. I took them off being the default speaker and unpaired them and reset with the home app. I then unplugged and plugged in holding the top for a long time and eventually it reset. Not sure which of these things solved it but eventually I was able to set it up again as new.

I’m sorry but it cannot be fixed. There’s been some luck with unplugging it for over 24 hrs and doing a hard reset by pressing the top but to be honest it likely won’t work: Reset HomePod - Apple Support. With an expired warranty Apple isn’t going to replace it. They sometimes offer a replacement at a cost you’d practically pay for a new one - not worth it. You’re not the only one to have this happen. I suspect mine aren’t going to last me much longer.

Hi Vancouver22, thank you very much for your answer and your help, although it didn't work.

I have reduce the HomeKit products that I've linked to my Home app, I have erased the HomePod from the Home app in my iOS devices, and also in my iCloud. I also tried to disconnect the HomePod more than 24h, but again, no results.

If nothing changes, I'll try again next year...

Now, from apple support, they told me by phone that it will be a hardware failure with a not determined cause, but it's out of warranty, and the only solution is to pay more than 90% of the cost of the HomePod to get a new one.

It isn't the answer that I was expecting from Apple.
