Bad CPU type in executable in iraf27

Here is the new MacBook air I bought two weeks ago with the M1 chip. I tried to install the rosetta 2, but still not working.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.5

Did you successfully install Rosetta 2? This is very important to know since "tried" implies the Rosetta 2 install failed.

Keep in mind that there is a lot of things that HomeBrew does not support on an M1 Mac. Check out the HomeBrew website to see what is supported and not supported on an M1 Mac. Also keep in mind that HomeBrew for the M1 was installed and not Homebrew for Intel. You never mentioned Homebrew in the original post and I didn't even think about it when I first replied. I would be careful here since you may end up corrupting your M1 macOS.


Make sure to have frequent & regular backups (preferably before you started to install Homebrew).

First, I think I have installed the rosetta 2 in the terminal. I tried installed inter software like Steam, it works directly.

Second, I followed the instruction of the first part of this link. And I asked my girlfriend, she said that she has already installed the homebrew.

I tried again, the problem is still there, : Bad CPU type in executable
