USB-C Hub drains battery? Macbook Air M1

M1 Macbook Air 2020

Device with potential issue: Baseus 8-in-1 USB-C hub.

Battery time remaing when not using the usb-c hub can reach almost 20 hours. However, when i plugged the hub in, I noticed that the battery drains fast and upon checking the time remaining of the battery, it shows around 8 hours.

It very well can be, or even worse.

Your options are:

-Purchase a hub with a built in power supply, i.e. has its own wall adapter

-Purchase a hub like the one you mention with USB-C power passthrough and purchase the 61 watt Apple Power adapter. From my personal experience, the 30 watt adapter that came with the MacBook Air is too weak to supply both the hub and power the MacBook Air and keep it charged, I have a Belkin Multi Media Hub and its uses 15 watts of power before it even supplies the MacBook Air, leaving only 15 watts to power it which is not enough in many cases and the MacBook Air would pull power from the battery.
