I can't browse Apple Music on iTunes (desktop)

My laptop runs Windows 7 (iTunes version 12.10.11.2) and my apple music subscription is up to date.

I get a blank page when I click the 'For You', 'Browse' or 'Radio' toggles in iTunes. I'm able to access my own Library and the iTunes store with no issue.

No issue on my iPhone using the same account.

Windows, Windows 6

There is no and there will be no fix for this! This is a result of an incompatibility with iTunes on Windows 7 when establishing a network connection to Apple's server. This is why the page never loads and stays blank. It's like using an outdated web browser to load a new web page. If the browser is too old and the page is modern, it won't work. This is what happened here. iTunes on Windows 7 just doesn't communite anymore with updated Apple's servers. Updated software is required which in this case includes the operating system. The last version available for Windows 7 is iTunes 12.10.11.2 and since Windows 7 is no longer supported by iTunes, there will be no fix for this. The only solution if you want to listen to Apple Music with iTunes is to move to a newer OS (Window 10 for example) and install the latest iTunes version.

Indeed, it seems all people using a Windows version prior to Windows 10 have this issue.

I have read all comments and there are no suggested fixes (that work) other than upgrading to Windows 10.

I do have found a workaround you can use when you have a phone (or tablet) logged into your Apple Music. It is not beautiful, but it works.

If you want to play music that is not available in your 'library' or in your 'playlists', you can look it up on your phone (numbers, albums, playlists, etc) and save it to a new playlist. The playlist should then be synced to iTunes (pc) in a matter of seconds, providing you a way to play the music without the 'For You', 'Radio' and 'Discover' tabs.

Hope this helps!

Hello angelos49,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to use certain Apple Music related features in iTunes on your Windows computer, but you don't have this issue on your iPhone. To help with this, please see if the steps in this Apple resource helps with your situation:

If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services

Cheers!

HI All,

I think the main point is that Apple should think of its customers who've not only bought their expensive products, including (in my case) iPods that still function perfectly, but then go on to subscribe to Apple Music for streaming. It is arrogant of them to not even have the courtesy to notify their customers, who doubtless number in the millions around the world, who still have devices that work perfectly well on Windows 8.1 that from a given date Apple Music will not work on those devices. Thinking that there was something wrong with my system, I phoned Apple's supports service in 2 lengthy phonecalls, one to Eastern Europe, the other to Portugal. I was fobbed off with the old reboot, uninstall/reinstall stories, all to no avail. Not even their support staff would confess, to stop wasting my time and the cost of the phonecall, that if I still use Windows 8.1, it won't work. At the very least I would have had an answer in 60 seconds. Honestly - how difficult would it have been for this multi-billion dollar company to send a general e-mail to all Apple Music subscribers warning them of this development? Instead, they drop it on us without explanation and leave us to find out for ourselves, all the while they're quite happy to keep taking our subscription. I have therefore cancelled my subscription, which will make no difference to their profits. I am not upgrading my computer to Windows 10 just to please them.

Good luck everyone.

I'm having the same problem, my PC runs Windows 8.1 (iTunes version 12.10.11.2) and my apple music subscription is up to date.

I get a blank page when I click the 'For You', 'Browse' or 'Radio' toggles in iTunes. I'm able to access my own Library and the iTunes store with no issue. This just started within the last couple weeks.

No issues on my galaxy S21 phone.

I wasn't able to find anything that solved this problem with your Apple resource link above. I've tried reloading Itunes and that didn't help either. Any other suggestions to try?

I also have this problem for a few weeks on my windows 8.1 64bit pc with iTunes 12.10.11.2. The "For you", "Browse" and "Radio" sections remain with the blank screen without showing any content. I contacted Apple support but they couldn't fix the problem (they made me uninstall and reinstall iTunes, log out and back in my Apple account, tried to create a new windows account). Unfortunately it didn't help. In the end they told me to upgrade the pc to windows 10, but for me this is not feasible. This is all very disheartening.

Despite my being on this forum for many years, I don't know what "subscription" you're referring to. That said, Apple do publish a shed load of information about many things - I'm not sure I'd want to be inundated with mails about it all.

Hhmm. I'm not convinced that Apple would benefit from you updating from Windows 8 to Windows 10.

I believe all the information needed in order to understand the cause of the problem is in this discussion. There's no point in anyone trying to rail against me because you don't like the fix, I'm simply the messenger.
