iPhone 13 iOS 15 - CarPlay doesn’t play music

I tried toggling Settings > EQ > Late Night back to ON after successfully fixing the issue by turning it OFF. EQ MUST be OFF for the Music App(Spotify, etc) to work in CarPlay. Hopefully Apple will fix this in a future update.

THIS is what worked! You, Brutus161, are the real hero.

Unplug the phone. Go to Settings > Music > EQ and turn one on. I turned on Latin. Then play a song for about a minute on the phone, not on CarPlay. Then, go back to Settings > Music > EQ and turn the EQ off. Plug your phone back in and voila! It should work.

I was experiencing the exact same issue as the main thread mentions. I did the suggested answer of turning EQ from “Late night” to “off” and my Apple Music now plays without issue.

I had to reset the network settings before toggling with EQ modes and it worked

Turning off EQ does work to be able to use Apple Music on Apple CarPlay I can not speak for the other apps but I tried everything and it just kept crashing until I turned off EQ.

I got it to work. Essentially I turned on and then off several of the options under music in settings. It started working after that. Try switching your eq to a different setting, playing some music in your phone, turn eq back off and then plug it into your car.

Created an account to say thank you for this! Had no EQ on and kept seeing this as a resolution so it didn’t help me. I have a 4 hour drive tomorrow (U.K. fuel idiocy makes that super fun) and was dreading it without music! Genuinely I played a song for 60 second with an eq on then turned it off and bingo it works on car play now!

The EQ change worked for me. Yes, I am a real person. I have an iPhone 13 with a 2021 rav4 hybrid.

I don’t use apply music, and already had the EQ off. I turned the EQ back on, turned it to the referenced EQ, then back off again. Tested with an OEM Apple cable, and it worked as it should.

I'm having the same problem. Saw this fix in another thread: "So in this case, currently we have an available work around that is going to Settings> Music> EQ, and make sure that it is turned off. After it, let's try to connect your phone using CarPlay on your vehicle, and let's try to play music with it!"

Thanks a lot! I deleted my Apple Music coz I never use it, not I have to install it back and CarPlay problem solved!

This worked for me. I tried resetting the EQ and it failed again. I had to turn off my stereo and back on. It worked. Crazy that something so simple. Would never have found it. Thanks

Turning off EQ worked for me! And I'm a real human.

Go to Settings > Music > EQ on your iPhone and make sure EQ is off. That seems to be the fix that most have found successful.

I was having the same problem. All apps worked, but when I try to play music it would disconnect. Just tried toggling the EQ on and off, and it worked! Thanks!! No more FM radio.

I have a 2018 Mazda CX5, had CarPlay installed 2 years ago. It's awesome.
