iPhone 13 iOS 15 - CarPlay doesn’t play music

I had an iPhone 12 with iOS 15, everything was working fine and dandy.

I upgraded to iPhone 13 and now music does not play using CarPlay when I am using either Spotify or Apple Music.

I have a 2018 Audi and I use lighting to connect to CarPlay.

When I click on a song either using Spotify or Apple Music my CarPlay app shuts down.

CarPlay works and does not shut down when I use Google maps or Apple podcasts. But as soon as I click on a song Apple CarPlay just shuts down.

THIS is what worked! You, Brutus161, are the real hero.

Unplug the phone. Go to Settings > Music > EQ and turn one on. I turned on Latin. Then play a song for about a minute on the phone, not on CarPlay. Then, go back to Settings > Music > EQ and turn the EQ off. Plug your phone back in and voila! It should work.

The EQ change worked for me. Yes, I am a real person. I have an iPhone 13 with a 2021 rav4 hybrid.

I don’t use apply music, and already had the EQ off. I turned the EQ back on, turned it to the referenced EQ, then back off again. Tested with an OEM Apple cable, and it worked as it should.

So I have only tried this with my Garmin watch and Amazon music… but when I couldn’t get music to play from CarPlay or my IPhone 11, I hit play from my watch and it started playing. Would be curious to see if this works with Apple Watch/Spotify/iTunes…

I'm having the same problem. Saw this fix in another thread: "So in this case, currently we have an available work around that is going to Settings> Music> EQ, and make sure that it is turned off. After it, let's try to connect your phone using CarPlay on your vehicle, and let's try to play music with it!"

I’m a real person with a 2021 Mazda CX-5 and it worked for my pro max 13! I’ve never even been into my music settings before. I don’t know what EQ is for. But turning it off fixed the issue of getting kicked off Spotify every time I tried to play a song through CarPlay. Thanks for the suggestion!

Uncannily similar to my situation except my car is 2 years older 😂

EQ didn’t help - already off. Nothing else I’ve tried helps and I refuse to wipe & reset my entire phone - there must be a quicker way!

Turning off EQ doesn’t work! Apple needs to work with the apps that are CarPlay compatible to fix this issue!! Apps not working are Audacy, Tune In, Amazon music, SiriusXM, and iHeart!! Quirkiness with the Google maps app where you have to announce about 3 times before the direction location can be verbally identified!! CarPlay is almost useless until Apple fix this issue!

Wtf Apple. Why is that what broke CarPlay? I’ve been sitting here for like an hour trying to get it to work. Deleted my phone from Bluetooth, deleted my car from CarPlay, rebooted my car’s system, switched my USB cables around. Finally googled it and found this thread. Ridiculous!!! Thanks so much 2Tbags1cup for fixing Apple’s incompetence!

I’m still using my Xs and running 15.0.1 and my CarPlay is not running any of my music apps, I have to grab the phone and start the music from there.

I’m not convinced it is only a iPhone 13 problem.

I can assure you I’m very well a real person. I don’t know what else I can say and **** if this stupid setting didn’t do the trick. I was ready to sign up to Sirius again for this Florida to Tennessee road trip! 🤯
