iPhone 13 pro touch screen irresponsive when plugged and on flat surface

I was having the same issue with my iPhone 13 I bought in Dec 4. Only when charging the touch screen would simply act up, but ever since i did the iOS 15.2 Update is working find while charging using the 20W adapter. I don’t know what fix it, the update or God knows what. I went thru the update fixes list but nothing regarding the issue while charging. If anyone one knows what fix it let me know please and thank you. PS I’m still taking it to the store to see if actually fixed or just an intermittently issue

Mine’s doing the same. iPhone 13 Pro, have had it two weeks. The screen becomes totally unresponsive when charging. Contacted Apple Support and said I was using my previous iPhone XS cable, they said that didn’t make any difference to using the new cable. Advised to do a force restart, which fixed it for a day or two but it’s doing the same again now

Yes, I talked with an electronics engineer friend of mine and told me that the electrostatic problems might come from the charger, bad isolation, harmonics or current ripple

In my case it happens when charging my iPhone 13 Pro with the cable and the 20W charger, but only when the battery level is very low (less than 10-20%). Nothing to do with flat surfaces. If the charging starts when the battery has something like 40% (or more) charge, then the screen responsiveness is fine.

I’m wondering… is this a software issue or a hardware fault? It seems to me that the problem occurs when the device charges at the highest speed. Which happens from 0 to 50% for the battery, and after this point the speed (and Wattage) of charging gradually drops.

I have same issue with 20w charger only, its looks like some bug with throttling processor, the CPU is responsible for fast charging process there is a controller for that in the CPU.

I remember old symbian Nokia phone that throttled hard while charging and worked great after removing the cable.

This is kinda deja vu for me.

So the 20w ones lagging only when less than 50% (fastest phase) - throttles CPU most. But just after it passes 50%, the speed of charging falls, and both the phone and charger become not so hot, both controllers working fine cool and smooth.

So it's all look like lagging to me not dead touch panel or smth just the CPU as it was in Macbooks pro.

So you are teeling that this issues are because of rubber case? Because I tried to remove the case and then phone works perfectly fine...

I had (have) this problem too :-( Got the phone on release day. less than a week later, took it into Apple store in London and they ran some tests and said the screen failed a test twice. replaced the phone... got home. same issues when plugged in charging. Hoping this will get a software fix, maybe.

This happens to my iPhone 13 pro (15.1.1) every time my phone is flat on a surface whether or not it’s charging :/. But as soon as I tilt it or pick it up it works fine, which points to it being a software issue (hopefully).

Unfortunately I getting the same issue with my Iphone 13 Pro. The screen becomes unresponsive whenever I charge it to the 20W adaptor but works fine with 5W or 10W. Don't know if should I wait for an IOS update or should I take to the service.

Same issue. iPhone 13 Pro, new today. Fine when not plugged in but screen laggy and unresponsive when plugged in and charging, doesn’t matter if on flat surface or in my hand.

I’m charging with my XS cable at the moment as haven’t got a USB-C charger plug yet. My old XS is plugged into it and working fine while charging.

it really annoying as I quite often use my phone while it’s on charge.

2nd follow up post:

After reading this sequence I made a minor change. Previously I was charging off a power board usb port (2.4amp). The problem would occur every night, particularly after it had been charging for a while. I switched it out for the apple 20W charger and have not had a single problem since.

I have the same problem with my iphone 13 pro when it's on charge I can't even type with the keyboard , I just unplug it from the charger and everything is fine (I use both original and new charger and cable).

I’m also experiencing this. As soon as it’s taken off the charger the screen works perfectly. Then when I plug in again it starts to miss and act up.

Im having the same issue, but only while charging, im trying to use my old charger and appears to work fine. Anyways i will like to know if its a hardware or software failure
