Choppy flickering video - iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15

Further investigation points more to 3rd party issue around how video is handled, had some success in Facebook, with turning off video optimisation and all video and photo settings for HD and Rendering. Most videos play as they should now on the iPhone 13 in Facebook

Issue still remains in messenger haven't found video playback settings there yet.

You tube and on phone videos work fine.

Definitely more the compatibility issues with Facebook apps and 15 + iPhone 13

IPhone 13 straight out the box 9th Oct 2021 running iOS 15.0 Video filmed with phone and played backed Video playback flickering and very ugly on the phone. Videos played with 3rd party apples does the same. Videos recorded on the new iPhone 13 and viewed on iPhone X and Android devices works fine as it should. Would believe its either a driver or chipset issue.

Should I be looking at returning for a refund ?

If a single application has an issue when you update windows 10 to windows 11, it is the application that needs to update how it interacts with kernel or drivers. Same for ios or any other OS.

Of course this is an application/fb issue. Claiming the OS is the issue is not helpful here. It is good to make sure it is widely known, but facebook need to fix their app

I have been experiencing the flickering video issue on the new iPhone 13 Pro in iOS 15, 15.0.1, and 15.0.2. It is NOT reproducible on an earlier iPhone 6 running iOS 12.5.5. I notice if frequently, especially in Facebook Messenger, but not limited to that. It isn't a third-party problem if their software works in only some versions of iOS - that's a design flaw in the operating system. Please don't pass the buck Apple.

I just updated my new iPhone 13 pro to 15.1 and the video flickering is still present when you're in a room with artificial light or when you hover your camera over light globes. So the only time it's not present is in natural lighting.

We understand how important it is to be able to watch videos on your device and we're happy to help. Is the issue occurring with downloaded videos or ones that are being streamed? Also, does the issue still occur if you change your internet connection? For example, of you connected to Wi-Fi, then testing on a different network or your cellular data. Lastly, does the issue still occur after deleting the app and re-downloading it using the steps here: Redownload apps and games from Apple ?

Just started using my 13 pro max, video is flickering too. Not using any 3rd party app, simple recorded video on the phone and watched.

My flickering started when I opened my camera or an app the uses the camera such as snapchat. I called apple and they told me that all cameras have a flicker when you open the camera. I tried to explain that this flicker is not a normal “camera flicker” but they did not believe that. Now it’s the videos in messenger. I hope apple does something because it’s real annoying. A new phone should not have these issues especially for the price we pay for them

I’m having the same issue. Every time I watch the stories of my fb friends. It flickers. I went to apple store already. But they can’t fix it. And just advice me to wait for the next IOS update. This shouldn’t be happening. As soon as we got the phone, payment started and that means we should enjoy every simple thing of the phone. I’m at the point of returning the phone. It upsets me watching the video stories.

totally agree. I’m having the same problem when I send messages on whatsapp and search things on chrome. I went to the apple store and they said it’s software issues…. I shall wait for next ios update. I can’t believe a new iphone will have such issues…

Same issue here: iPhone 13 & iOS 15. I still have my old phone iPhone XR & iOS 15 and the issue is there as well, the video is flickering. But not at all as much as on my new iPhone. It is not even possible to watch the videos there (e.g. in Messenger) cause of the issue. I assume it is iOS 15 issue which is much more present on the new iPhones.
