Okay so I finally figured this out for those who use music for their alarm. The alarm will not play a song if it was downloaded in lossless audio format. Remove the download you want to use from your library and then download it again after switching the audio quality setting to “high quality” under music settings. You can then switch it back. Just make sure that the song you are trying to use for your alarm wasn’t downloaded in the lossless format.

When I try to use a song in lossless format, I get no sound and no vibrate but when I use a song downloaded in high quality, I get both sound and vibrate. Odd but try it yourself and hopefully that works for you as well.

Hey pamceachern,

We understand that since updating to iOS 15, there has been no alarm sound on your iPhone nor Apple Watch. We suggesting creating a new alarm to see if you get the sound notification. If it does work, delete the existing alarms and the set them up again.

If the new alarm experiences the same issue, restart both the iPhone and the Apple Watch. If issue persists, go to Settings > Notifications, and ensure the volume isn't set to low. Also, if you use any Do Not Disturb features, make sure it isn't interfering with your alarms: Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Take care.

Yes mine was doing the same thing but I got my alarm to work using music so I thought it may offer a solution. The only other things I did was turn off the stupid Focus features, which can mute notifications, and also turned off “Attention Awareness Features” which turns down alert volumes automatically when your iPhone senses your attention. I don’t have Bedtime turned on in my health app but I read you should turn that off too.

I was very frustrated last night when I could not get my alarm sounds and vibrations to work. I frantically searched the internet for answers, and I found one site that said to do a settings reset. Everything in this discussion has not helped, but to reset my settings did. If anyone wants to try this solution, Go to general->scroll to the bottom where it says reset and then choose the reset settings-option.

Hopefully, this helps the ones that it hasn't worked for

I called Apple Support (my watch was still under warranty) and they tried several things for several weeks including pushing updates to my watch. Finally, I said "I really need you to replace this watch -- it obviously does not work." Then they called me back, pushed me another update and the watch has been working perfectly ever since (about 2 weeks now).

I suggest calling Apple Customer Support . . . they obviously don't help us here.

Yes, Apple got back to me again yesterday by phone. They said: "Engineering is still working on it and they do not yet have the fix." They said hopefully will have something in the next few days, and they will keep me informed.

I know, it is so inconvenient not to have the alarm. I use it all the time -- but for your students, it is super important. So kind of you to do this for them. In lieu of the alarms, I have been using the Timer function which works but you have to calculate how long you need instead of just putting in a time of day.

Yes, I contacted Apple Support and have spoken with them 4 times over the past 10 days.

  1. They initially said "hmmmmm . . . . strange"
  2. Then they told me "this is a known issue"
  3. They came in and did a lot of diagnostics on both my Mac and my watch
  4. Told me they sent all the diagnostic data to "engineering"
  5. Called me back yesterday and said engineering is working on it
  6. Told me that would get back to me in about 48 hours hopefully with a fix

So it's a problem, they seem to be working on it, but don't have a solution yet. That's what they told me.
