IOS 15 - Mail being marked as read before being opened

You would think that by now they would have fixed this. You can tell them the issue over and over and they don’t seem to care….

Shame on Apple!! Maybe it’s time for a switch to android!

I have this exact same isssue since ios15. Updates dont help. For me the issue manifests when I use the "toggle all/only unread emails" button in the bottom left. As long as I never use this button I am fine, but occasionally when I use it, the top unread emails seems to get marked as read.

please fix this asap since i've lost track of important things and invoices because of this!

Who are you asking to fix it? Certainly none of the other users in this user-to-user forum where Apple doesn’t participate. Use the Get Support link at the top of this page if you want Apple to do something about it, or report the issue at https://apple.com/feedback.

I AM HAVING SAME ISSUE! Killing me. My unreads are my life and it's making the top email in my mail app read after a few seconds of opening the app. So then I have to re-mark as unread and close app to ensure I don't miss anything. I ahve been searching far and wide for the fix and finally got this thread. I am about to update to 15.0.2 and see what happens. I have tried deleting my account, resetting phone and adding account back and that does not work either.

Hey, user! this is not Apple support. This is a user to user forum. To contact Apple support use the Get Support link at the top of this page for help with the problem with YOUR PHONE. Most users do not have this problem. I don’t have it with any of my 7 email accounts, for example.

I have an Iphone 12Pro and am having the same issue. I use optimum for my email through the apple mail app. I am using IOS 15.2 and my incoming emails turn to read immediately and the emails that I have saved as unread for later turn to read as well. The only thing to stop this from occurring for just a day or two is to delete the mail account and add it back in. Not only is this annoying but the fix doesn't last long. The emails are kept as unread on the optimum server so it obviously is an IOS issue. This happens when I open a notification as well as opening the app itself.

I have spent hours on the phone with Apple representatives and no one can help me...

I can't be the only one having this problem... is there a fix? This only started to happen when the last update prior to 15.2 came out...

That was my original thought, but I’m having no trouble with optimum email on my MacBook. Apple is aware of the problem, and I have a call with engineering on Monday.

I was told the same. Now, 2 updates later, nothing has changed. I also realized that some email are also spontaneously DELETING.
