Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

No. This is not normal. So, see about getting this serviced. If this were me, I would have this looked into by Apple. You have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty. So, contact Apple Support.

So, Get this Serviced:

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due do lots of calls. And this makes sense, because with the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

"MacBook Air M1 hinge: Hi, thanks for the reply. I am returning this product through post. But while deleting the File and reinstalling the OS , it’s taking too much time and failed once . With there be any issue if I return it without reinstalling Mc OS?

This is something to ask Apple. Returns are performed through them, directly. These are just User-to-User forums. Call them with the information provided in my above reply. Explain to them exactly why is occurring. While on the phone with an Apple Rep, be certain to show this to them. You can do so with (A)photos or (B)***through use of the camera in an iPhone or another Mac.

***Screensharing with the Apple Rep:

To easily troubleshoot this over the phone with the Apple Rep, screenshare the camera of your iPhone and/or that of your Mac. Ask a friend, or family member if you may use their phone or Mac, if you do not have one handy.
